CHANCE MEETING - The human BOND
- (Trigger Warning)
Today I met a stranger by chance. Immediately in that moment Brian became the most important human to me in the world and with all of my love I helped him the best I could. At the end of the day we all care and have love for others, and we have capacity to do so more than you may just expect, particularly when talking about a strangers.
We met seconds after an incident involving him and a tram crossing paths. Brian was unconscious and not breathing when I got to him. That changed thankfully to first aid training.
The world around us seemed to disappear and it was just me and Brian. It is incredible how much you can care for and learn about another human in such chance situations when all barriers are down and the human spirit in its most basic form. It was intense. It really caught me off guard. Most of this in a matter of a less than 5 minutes but felt like an hour. Interesting how time slows. That’s how it is when one is truly in the moment.
I made it clear I was not going anywhere while comforting him. After the paramedics took over I remained closely crouched by, but not in direct line of sight. Every now and then Brian’s eyes would look for me and found me they did. Nothing was said, nothing needed to be said.
The intensity of the bond formed in those moments was not something I was prepared for, and never encountered either, until today.
TODAY I LEARNED JUST HOW MUCH LOVE YOU CAN GIVE TO A COMPLETE STRANGER.
More than I ever thought…
I have walked away inspired, as to how amazingly the human spirit is capable of forming connections and bonds with each other, complete strangers or otherwise to help one another in ways at times unimaginable.
Brian, thinking of you and wish you all the best in recovery mate, Bernie Mitchell Bernie Mitchell
