Empowered Birth are very excited to be opening up in Newcastle. They teach The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme which is a unique antenatal course with tools and techniques to empower couples to achieve the birth that's right from them.

I hope everyone has survived the weather and you are all staying warm.

We have new likers to welcome and so many fabulous businesses.

I would love to hear your stories as to how you started your business and the reasons why.

The juggling act of motherhood and business is never easy and I want to share a little story of my own. I have two boys aged 9 and 7 and worked full-time for someone else while they were babies. I missed out on so much. Their carers always told me I saw the first smile, the first time they walked and laughed but sometimes I wondered! After having my little girl Indi who is 12 months old the decision was made. It was time to be at home with my three children - and become a "Mum in Business". I love being a "Mum in Business" and have met so many fantastic people who have supported and inspired me along the way.

However the golden moment when you realise you made exactly the right decision - the first kiss from my little girl - she walked right up to me touched my face and planted a big wet kiss right on me. That is a memory I will always remember. That is why I love being a "Mum in Business". I have the best of both worlds.
