2025 is officially in full swing, ive been pretty quiet on Linkedin as we moved into this year and a lot of that is I see Linkedin becoming a platform of "influencers" which I am very happy to be apart of but only if what we are saying offers value.

With that in mind, DDH and I got together IN PERSON in Lisbon over NYE and recorded some very special episodes.

In this episode we have a swing back look at 2024 and two of the biggest lessons from us are lessons we hope help you.

1. Patience
2. You CAN do it!

Tune in for our studio produced in person pod eps!

As an expert career coach,
I’m on a mission to help more people find happiness and fulfilment in their careers.

I understand the barriers, especially for women, that can hold them back – the toss-up between work and family, the struggle to find balance. But seeing people trust and invest in themselves and succeed in making positive change is what drives me as a career coach.

Through the coaching program, you will uncover with clarity and certainty what your next career move is, employ tactics to move you in the right direction, and have the confidence to act.

It’s time to shift your mindset and manifest the career you’ve always dreamed of… the career you deserve… and the career that deserves YOU.

One to one coaching is the most fulfilling part of what I do. Today, I received an unexpected thank you from one of my beautiful coaching clients.

When we started this journey she was at a loss, stuck in a rut, de-motivated, and struggling to find a path out of it. Whilst working together we uncovered the root causes, we worked on plans to move forward, and in this case, it ended up being the most perfect job change that at the time she didn’t think was possible….. oh and a hefty pay increase too.

I couldn’t be more proud of where she is now, the transition is amazing and I’m the lucky person who got to hold her hand through it.

Whether it’s career or health if you’re ready to make a change, let’s have a conversation…… because I like getting flowers and cards 😍🎉

You are NOT obligated to answer inappropriate questions in a job interview!

Here are some no-go job interview topics:

- Sexual orientation
- Age
- Ethnicity/cultural background
- Religion/beliefs
- Pregnancy/future plans to start a family
- Political views/who you vote for
- Questions about whether you have a disability
- Questions of a sexual nature

So how do you respond to these questions?

You simply say "I'd like to understand how this information would relate to this role, can you tell me more?" and if the employer presses you on this, you are well within your rights to decline not to answer.

It can be uncomfortable and often an interviewer may not realise (depending on their training and experience) the question they're asking is inappropriate. Have you ever had to deal with questions like this?

Networking is a wonderful thing!

But there are so many mistakes that I see people make and I'd love to lay them out for you today!

1. Being pushy: It's great that you've come across an opportunity or you've found someone you want to connect with, and following up with them is definitely fine! But continuously messaging them or using forceful language is not!

2. Name Dropping: I know you want to seem like you'll fit right in with your new network, but saying you 'know' someone who you really only know via a social media connection, won't really impress anyone.

3. Too much too soon: Of course you want to make the most of your new connection, but spamming them with newsletter requests, job opportunities and invitations for drinks is a bit much.

4. Going silent: I know social media upkeep can seem like hard work sometimes! But neglecting your socials won't help your networking profile one bit!

Business owners - have you experienced some of these from your connections? Job seekers - are you guilty of some of these?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, plus other networking mistakes you've experienced in the comments!

Business Development - seems like a bit of a scary word doesn't it?

Whenever someone talks about BD I see people get real nervous!

But here's the thing...

Business Development is all about making friends.

It's about networking, researching, and cultivating opportunities.

And hey, if you can do that, then why is this word so scary?

Well, it's all because of a fear of rejection.

But at the end of the day, if this fear is stopping you from growing your business, then it's time to address the BD anxiety right now.

So I want you to think about your BD fears, and say this with me: GET LOST!

How did that feel?

Now get out there and make some friends and grow that biz!

Work culture isn't just about perks!

It's amazing that there are so many workplaces offering catered meetings, team building days and Friday afternoon drinks.

But workplace culture is so much more than the extra things a workplace offers! The culture is you, your team mates, your peers, your management, your leadership. It's the individuals who make the culture, you are part of it, it's how you live the companies values and your own personal values.

Your employer places the structure, procedures, and ecosystem in the workplace so the culture can thrive in areas such as:

👔 How management treats team members
👔 How issues are approached and/or rectified
👔 What policies are enforced in the workplace
👔 How overtime, breaks and annual leave are approached
👔 The overall satisfaction of staff

What is the most important thing to you in a workplace? What helps you to live the culture each day?
