There’s something very special about helping an artist’s vision become a permanent part of a city’s landscape 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎
These 20 striking horse sculptures, now standing proudly along the M7–M12 motorway interchange on the way to the new Western Sydney International Airport, began life as hand-shaped clay maquettes on a workshop bench.
Working alongside the talented team at Alchemy Co , we transformed the artist’s vision into permanent public art, combining creative craftsmanship, engineering expertise and meticulous quality assurance to deliver a landmark installation as part of one of Sydney’s largest infrastructure projects.
From sculpting and painted maquettes to patina development, finish sampling and full-scale prototyping, every detail was tested, refined and perfected before production even began.
The finished sculptures each stretch 4m metres in length, with a structural steel framework wrapped in fibreglass and finished in a custom copper-bronze patina designed to withstand decades of the harsh motorway environment.
Projects like these are a reminder that the most rewarding builds often sit at the intersection of art, engineered design and fabrication, and that’s exactly where we love to work!
