Went to Brimstone by Striver a while back, and one takeaway stuck with me more than anything else: stop writing your resume like a list of chores and start translating your transferable skills.
If you’re breaking into a new industry or starting out in Australia, your previous title matters far less than the actual capability behind it.
Take a Personal Trainer: you didn’t just “run gym sessions.” You managed client retention, kept people accountable, and communicated technical advice simply. That’s client relationship management and coaching.
Or local volunteering: you didn’t just “help out at weekend events.” You coordinated logistics, handled stakeholder communication, and solved sudden problems on zero budget. That is literally event coordination and project management.
Hiring managers aren’t looking for identical job titles, they’re looking for proof you can solve their problems. Translate the experience for them so they don’t have to guess.
