For generations, cacao has been cultivated, shared and protected by communities across southern Mexico.

On June 28, Don Efrén Maldonado and Cristóbal Córdoba will travel from Tabasco to London to share stories, traditional cacao and the living traditions that continue to accompany this plant today.

Rather than a performance, this gathering has been created as a space for sharing the ancestral wisdom, listening and reflection around the roots of cacao and the people who continue to care for it.

Over the past weeks, many people have helped make this encounter possible.

Friends opened doors. Community members shared ideas. Supporters offered their time.

Our dear hermanita who has been a lovely supporter since the beginning.

Among those who stepped forward was Karen Rinpoche from , who generously offered her beautiful indoor-outdoor sanctuary in Surrey, allowing this gathering to unfold in a space that feels deeply aligned with its intention.

For that, we are profoundly grateful.

Attendance will be intentionally limited, and several places have already been reserved.

Alongside the London gathering, we will also host an online conversation with Don Efrén on June 30 for those joining from elsewhere in the world.

While London celebrates Frida Kahlo, we invite you into a creative experience inspired by her world.

Join us for an evening of Mexican cacao, art, creativity, and connection as we honour one of Mexico’s most iconic artists.

The experience begins with a guided cacao ritual, creating a moment to slow down, connect with yourself, and open the creative process from a place of presence.

With cacao in hand, we will explore Frida’s symbolic universe through painting, reflection, and artistic expression in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

No previous artistic experience is required.

Come alone or bring a friend.

A question for cacao facilitators:

What exactly are we facilitating?

A gathering? A ritual? A conversation? Or something deeper?

The tree does not need us.The traditions existed before us. The land was already speaking before we learned the language to describe it.

Perhaps facilitation is less about leading and more about listening.

Modern culture rewards visibility.
Ancestral culture rewards relationship.

One asks:

“How many people are listening to me?”

The other asks:

“How deeply am I listening?”

Without roots, practices become products, symbols become aesthetics, facilitation becomes performance.

The elder is the root.
Community becomes the branches and leaves.

If these reflections resonate with you, join us this June in London or via zoom as Abuelo Efrén shares a perspective on cacao rooted in territory, lineage and relationship.

Comment “ROOTS” and we will send you the details.

Australia — We're looking for a Frido Community Partner 🇦🇺

Over the years, Frido has grown through festivals, specialty cafés, workshops, wellness spaces and community gatherings across Australia.

Today, we're looking for the right person to help us continue that journey.

This isn't a traditional sales position.

We're looking for someone who already feels connected to the worlds of wellness, hospitality, cafés, festivals, yoga, community events and conscious living.

Frido already has:

✓ Existing stock in Australia

✓ Retail products

✓ Educational programs

✓ Workshop formats

✓ Café partnerships

✓ A growing international presence across Mexico, Australia, Bali and the UK

We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities and helping meaningful projects grow.

The role is flexible, partnership-focused and commission-based, with opportunities to grow alongside the brand.

If this sounds like you, or if someone immediately comes to mind, we'd love to hear from you.

Send us a message or tag someone below.

The next chapter of Frido Australia may begin with a single introduction.

Across the world, cacao continues expanding into ceremonies, festivals, workshops and modern spiritual spaces.

Still, very few people have the opportunity to sit in direct conversation with someone who has cultivated cacao through ancestral tradition beside the land itself.

On June 30, Don Efrén Maldonado will join us for an intimate online encounter exploring the roots, memory and deeper questions surrounding cacao today.

Together, we will speak about:

– what truly makes cacao “ceremonial”
– how rituals can be shared with respect towards Indigenous communities
– what cacao is experiencing in the modern world
– how we can bring cacao into people’s hearts with more depth and resonance

This is not being approached as a webinar.

Rather, the intention is to open a living conversation between communities, traditions and the people now walking beside cacao around the world.

For the first days of release, we also opened a private early access offer for the Frido community.

Something important is arriving in London.

At the end of June, Don Efrén Maldonado — cacao guardian from the Mayan-Yokot’an tradition in Tabasco, Mexico — will open a series of gatherings, conversations and personal encounters connected to the living roots of cacao.

Across several days, we will create spaces to listen, learn and reconnect with a tradition that continues to be cultivated through ancestral knowledge.

Not as a product. Not as a trend.

But as a living relationship between land, community and memory.

🌿 June 28

More than a display.
An altar.

Inside FRIDO, every object carries a quiet intention. Clay remembers the hands that shaped it. Corn speaks about land, ancestry and memory. Across textiles, cacao and smoke, the space slowly stops feeling like a shop and begins to feel like something far more intimate.

Mexico never understood cacao as just another drink. Ceremony, conversation and human connection existed around cacao long before the world renamed those experiences as wellness. Through Casa Amarilla, Frido next shop, we want to bring people back to that sense of presence where drinking slowly can also become an act of reflection.

Nothing here was placed only for decoration. Each piece exists to create an atmosphere where art, ritual and culture naturally coexist. Around the altar, people pause, observe, paint, taste, ask questions and stay longer than they expected.

FRIDO was never created to be only a café.
Casa Amarilla was never imagined as a simple retail space.

Something deeper is happening here.

Big thanks to for an amazing Mexican Festival.

Building a community heart ❤️✨

Somos semilla. 🌱🤎✨
