What are an NDIS Participants rights and how does a consultant help you figure it out??

Well it starts off easy, Participant’s have the same rights as every body else!
Then we get a little more detail of what that actually means:
The same access as everyone else to the physical environment
To live independently and within the community
Equal inclusion in education
Highest attainable healthcare and access to healthcare
Reasonable adjustments in the workplace
Equal recognition before the law

But how does this all affect a provider?
Well the rights of individuals with a disability also encompass:
Access to adequate standard of living
Respect for Family and social relationships
Be free from inhumane or cruel treatment
Be free from Degradation
Freedom of movement and mobility

As a provider it’s important that you are constantly monitoring what is happening both in the workplace and working with Vulnerable People, we can help you to ensure that your risk assessments, policies and procedures are protecting the participant’s that have trusted you to support them.

Contact us today for a policy review and to ensure that you are staying up to date and Audit ready.

Today we had some reach out in the ads to say that we’re a joke, and we like to have fun in the office so we’ll take that!

But what isn’t a joke is the vulnerable people that are supported by the Providers that we work with and some of the things our providers have heard are okay through ‘word of mouth’ NDIS Suports

1. It’s okay to use frozen meals instead of fresh for STA and if a participant wants something different they need to pay separately. FALSE
2. If the participant is out of funding then all Core will always be flexible. FALSE
3. You don’t need to be registered for module 2a to use unauthorised restrictive practices on a regular basis. FALSE
4. A participant has no say in who they live with in SIL. FALSE
5. Locking a cupboard and using CCTV footage inside isn’t a restrictive practice. FALSE
6. You don’t have to follow through on every complaint pr opportunity for improvement, and you should just ignore their family. SO VERY FALSE

We provide a low cost high quality service to providers who want to make a positive impact on participants lives, there are no short cuts to the provision of best practice but we’ll try and make it as quick as possible to get there whilst providing Quality Care that Respects the individual needs of the Participant and their family and friends.

We can provide payment plans, delay payments, and packages to suit your budget, but if you’re stuck and having trouble finding an answer drop us a line, we don’t bill until we have to do actual work, and if it’s asked often enough we’ll turn it into a free resource.

Why do we share our resources?

sometimes it's because we're lazy some of our free resources include calculators that help us to work with providers to calculate simple costs by providing them for free we do less work (I may only be slightly joking)

Sometimes it's because the information has been collected from freely available sources and we just put it an easy to read format to share

Sometimes it's because we're just excited to share something new

But it's always because we believe that working in the NDIS means being part of a community and that sharing support's providers to better support Participants.

Keep an eye out for our new resources, or email us if you want our excel wizard to design a purpose built document for your company.

Today we celebrate International Day of People with Disability, and acknowledge the 4.4 million Australians living with disability.

This year, our focus is on leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.

It’s an opportunity to consider how to make a positive contribution to the lives of persons with disability.

Together we can make our community more accessible and inclusive for people with disability so that everyone has the opportunity to participate: www.idpwd.com.au
