I am all for safety on the road - with all aspects of transport.
There is currently a petition you can sign to improve lighting on TRAINS and TRAIN CROSSINGS - Click the link to sign
Petition Details & Reason -
Petition EN6369 - Minimum Standards for Train Lighting
"We the undersigned ask the Parliament of Australia to immediately implement mandatory and enforceable legislation requiring rotating beacon lights on the front of train locomotives and side lighting on locomotives and rolling stock. In Australia there is no legal requirement for trains to be lit to a particular standard. In contrast, oversize (excessively large) trucks are required by law to be fitted with flashing beacon lights and all trailers must be fitted with mandatory side lighting. Trains are at least 15 times heavier than trucks and can be up to 1.8km long, yet they have minimal frontal lighting and no side lighting. Trains remain the largest and most poorly lit vehicle on land. Two separate studies commissioned by the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) have demonstrated that upgraded lighting significantly improves the visibility of trains at night, particularly for vehicles approaching level crossings at obtuse angles, which is a common situation in rural settings. Currently, 80% of the 23,000 railway crossings in Australia do not have warning lights, making it essential for trains to have adequate illumination. Between 1 July 2014 and 31 December 2022 across Australia’s level crossings there were 7,839 near hits, 322 collisions, 39 fatalities and 49 serious injuries involving either road vehicles or pedestrians."

Time to let the cat out of the bag just that little bit more. Hasn't been a Sydney truckshow since around 2006 so we are going to give it a shot. Hoping to have new truck and trailer manufacturers, parts distributors and a good selection of historic vehicles.

Hawkesbury Showgrounds, Clarendon. More details to come soon.

🚨🚨🚨🚨DID YOU KNOW????🚨🚨🚨🚨

🚛If you drive a vehicle with a GVM over 12 tonnes🚛 - You are not required to use a logbook locally, BUT you must record your breaks as you're bound to the standard driving fatigue hours.

🥸When must I use a work diary?🥸
Drivers of fatigue-regulated heavy vehicles must carry and complete a work diary to record their work and rest times if they:

operate under standard hours and work more than 100km from their base or
operate under basic fatigue management (BFM) or
operate under advanced fatigue management (AFM)

The National Driver Work Diary (also know as a "log book") is evidence that a driver’s work and rest hours are compliant with the Heavy Vehicle National Law and that their fatigue is being managed.

Bruce & Brendon decided that it was time to share their knowledge and experience following close to 10 years working in compliance. It's a minefield really, but with a bit of direction, we hope that this discussion may help some of you. Please understand that this information is from their experience as Auditors, Trainers and Incident Investigations that they’ve been involved with and it's something that all employees of transport companies can be exposed to.
It is not legal advice, but purely a guide that we hope you benefit from and an acknowledgement to the many queries we've had, both online and in messages.

"Machine Learning" Cameras... TfNSW & NHVR are using Artificial Intelligence to AUTOMATICALLY check your speed & fatigue.

Humans aren't making determinations. These are computers that only know black & white.

Stay safe out there.

Images of heavy vehicles are taken by the cameras, which then classify the type of vehicle in transit and the type of cargo being transported.

EPISODE 50 is here and we couldn’t think of a better person to celebrate this milestone than Bruce’s friend, mentor and inspiration Max Keough. Bruce was raised with trucks but his chance meeting with Max back in late 1977 followed by his introduction to Max’s brand new 1978 Kenworth some months later has resulted in a lifelong passion and obsession that drives him daily. My ears bleed at times with him talking about his cabover and its restoration so I think it’s only fair that you all get punished for a while as well. And brace yourselves, it’s a long one........................
Thank you to everyone who has helped us get to 50 episodes, from anyone who has downloaded and listened to an episode, bought some merchandise from the store, liked or shared a post and given feedback or suggestions for people we can talk to. Every little bit helps to keep building this amazing community. This is truly your Podcast and we are so excited to keep bringing you value. This is just the beginning 👍🏼
