What's happening in your neighbourhood?
👇I remember seeing this community garden space initiative in the housing commission flats area of North Melbourne when I worked in the neighbourhood in the early '90s.
After living and working in Vietnam, I understood much more of the context and deep-seated importance of such spaces to enable individuals to contribute to their family's needs, to do what they are naturally skilled and gifted in with their background cultures.
To cultivate and enrich green spaces in the midst of urban jungles. To invest in places of peace and gentleness within a neighbourhood and community of diversity
- sharing spaces,
- sharing values,
- building friendships,
- coming together with common goals.
Growing social harmony.
Do you have any of these spaces in your local neighbourhood?
I would love to know where they are.
If not yet, perhaps start a local council conversation?
Thank you SBS for once again highlighting the wonders and gifts of our intercultural communities.
