A nationwide first, and we're excited to be leading it πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

ESBWA is proud to be supported by the NSW Government Women NSW to build what women in business have needed for a long time: a coordinated, national mechanism to connect women-owned businesses into procurement supply chains.

Why this matters: Women-owned businesses make up a third of all businesses yet receive just 1% of government contracts and large-business supplier spending globally.

Announced at the Western Sydney Innovation Connect Summit on 3 March, as part of International Women's Day and NSW Women's Week, here's what's included:

πŸ“‹ Women-Owned Supplier Database: Australia's first. Free to register.
πŸŽ“ Free Procurement Readiness Workshops: In-person across NSW and online.
πŸ† Women-Owned Business Summit 2027: Funding, innovation, long-term growth.
βœ… Women-Owned Business Certification: Coming soon. Join the waitlist.

And if you're not in NSW, there are opportunities for you too.

πŸ’° Government procurement represents one of the largest and most under-utilised revenue opportunities for women-owned businesses. Local, state and federal governments buy billions of dollars in goods and services every year, and women-owned enterprises are increasingly being prioritised.

If you've ever thought government tenders were too complex, too competitive or only for "big players", we're running a FREE workshop to help change your mind.

Join guest speaker Julie Mikhail, Managing Director‍ of Engineering Business, as she breaks down government procurement in practical terms. You'll learn how to...

βœ… Check if your business is ready to tender
βœ… Find and make sense of government tenders
βœ… Confidently prepare a tender application

No prior procurement experience required! We'd love to see you there.

Payday Super legislation will come into effect in July 2026, but what does it mean for women-led small businesses?

The Australian Taxation Office has released draft compliance guidelines outlining how it plans to enforce the new Payday Super obligations. ESBWA has raised concerns that these guidelines risk placing additional pressure on small businesses already managing tight cash flow, software limitations and heavy compliance demands.

We are calling on the ATO to prioritise education and support, not penalties, as this reform takes effect. Women entrepreneurs deserve clarity and practical guidance to adapt successfully.

You can read our feedback paper on the ATO's Draft Practical Compliance Guideline for Payday Super on our website: https://www.esbwa.com.au/submissions
