Today we’re spotlighting ‘s work from our dynamic digital art display at 1 Martin Place!✨
In the heart of Sydney, McGrath’s immersive works illuminate the lobby, transforming ordinary commutes into extraordinary experiences. As part of our ongoing partnership with Charter Hall, this rotation of art is the pinnacle of digital placemaking—igniting curiosity, fostering connection, and nurturing a shared appreciation for culture.
James McGrath, ‘Ghost Trees’ (slide 2 & 4)
‘Ghost Trees’ is a data-powered visualisation of the endangered Rushworth Forest in the lands of the Ngurai-Illam Wurrung people. Through careful use of existing records, McGrath breathes life into the dying ecosystems and creates digital memories of the disappearing landscapes.
James McGrath, ‘Baroque Wattle’ (slide 1 & 3)
A part of his new series of surreal Baroque interiors, this video folds together a multitude of techniques, genres, and narratives. McGrath describes this piece as a metaphor for nature taking back control of the built environment, where climate change gains revenge.
James McGrath has been an architect, artist, and digital creator for over 25 years. His artistic practice engages with layers of historical imagery, digital media, and traditional art making.
