Must see: a forceful retrospective of Biripi and Worimi elder Gordon Syron's work at Newstead Art, Bondi. 30 yrs ago I curated the important exhibition: 'Aboriginal Deaths in Custody: A History, through the Work of Gordon Syron and Elaine Pelot Kitchener', at New South Wales Parliament House, Sydney. One of the leading paintings, Judgement by His Peers, 1978, has now been acquired by the NGA. A long overdue acknowledgment of Gordon's significance to the national estate. A shout out to those interested collection management: it's on again - but with more! Following its success in 2024, 16Albermarle (Sydney) is again running its 2 day seminar, The Art Object, designed to assist developing practical skills in understanding objects and their components; object handling, storage and environmental considerations; packing and transport; installation and supports; as well as object examination and condition reporting.

This seminar is designed for: students following art-related, museum and heritage courses; Emerging arts workers with interests in registration, conservation, collection management and curating; Early-career professionals in the cultural and museum sectors working in roles focused on the care and handling of objects and collections.

It would be interesting to see the data on such sales over the past 15 yrs, as to whether it was indeed a primary market stimulus.
