๐Ÿ“Š Did you know 56% of Australians are not meeting recommended levels of physical activity?

This increasingly sedentary lifestyle is contributing to a rise in back pain and other spinal health concerns.

Prolonged sitting, inactivity and extended screen time at work and home can lead to poor posture, reduced movement and increased strain on the spine - all of which can contribute to back pain and musculoskeletal disorders.

Back pain doesnโ€™t just affect the body - it can also impact mental wellbeing, contributing to stress, fatigue and everyday pressures.

Adjust your thinking and join Spinal Health Month (1โ€“30 June) to access FREE resources and learn practical, evidence-based ways to support your spinal health.

๐Ÿšจ The Australian Government and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing have announced a revised approach to the new Assignment of Benefit (AoB) requirements, acknowledging concerns raised by stakeholders.

While the changes will still commence on 1 July 2026, a 12-month transition period will apply, providing greater flexibility for practitioners and practices. This includes the continuation of enabling verbal AoB for bulk-billed services during the transition. The Government has indicated that it will progress priority regulatory amendments to support the transition period.

๐Ÿšฉ Having flagged concern through forums available to us about the speed of changes, and the need for further implementation information and resources, the ACA welcomes this outcome, which provides additional time for practitioners, practices and software providers to prepare for the changes.

Member information and guidance have been updated to reflect the announcement.

Chronic back pain can limit your ability to take part in family, social and work activities - and itโ€™s not just physical limitations. It can also impact mental well-being, contributing to stress, isolation and fatigue.

Chronic pain is typically defined as pain that persists for 12 weeks or longer, even after the initial cause has improved. It may be constant or intermittent, and can affect how you move, sleep, work and engage in everyday life. Over time, it can also influence mood, energy levels and overall quality of life.

If youโ€™re living with back pain, itโ€™s time to adjust your thinking and get back to feeling good.

Because a healthy spine supports a healthy mind, access FREE back pain factsheets, checklists, podcasts and information on drug-free ways to manage back pain, or consult an ACA chiropractor ๐Ÿ‘‰ www.spinalhealth.org.au

โ€ผ๏ธ My Health Record changes commence from 1 July 2026 โ€ผ๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ข New Sharing by Default requirements for eligible diagnostic imaging reports will commence as part of the Australian Government's Better and Faster Access to Health Information initiative.

These changes are relevant to chiropractors who refer for diagnostic imaging, access imaging reports, or operate practices with imaging capability.

As part of the ACA-CA Collaborative Digital Health Working Group initiative, resources have been developed and curated to ensure members have access to the same practical information and guidance regarding these important changes.

Members should check their inbox for the factsheet, FAQs and additional information.
