Just finishing some work on how faults leak. This Gigapan from Miri Sarawak fantastically illustrates how fault rock radically changes in thickness over short distances. Look at the Gigpan where you can zoom in to see many of the small-scale features. In November at the Geological Society London, there will be chance to see the work of
Silvia Sosio de Rosa on detailed mapping of these features http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/160733

Great to see SwRI out looking at a fantastic set of faults in outcrop.

SwRI geologists study faulting in the foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains to better understand the terrain in and around Texas’ Permian Basin and how it affects petroleum production.
