Laura brings to market over ten years recruitment experience within the legal industry, prior to which she worked in top tier and global law firms in Australia and London. This experience has provided our company with an in depth knowledge of what clients and candidates are looking for. We are results driven and take the time to personally consult with all involved in the recruitment process to ensure those results are achieved to the highest standard. A weekend in Abu Dhabi!! Relaxation, art, culture, good food and wonderful friends ❤️🇦🇪 This was my first opportunity to see The Louvre in Abu Dhabi and it is just stunning. It’s an exciting time in Saadiyat Island with the Zayed National Musuem and Museum of Natural Wonders both open, with the Guggenheim set to open later this year.

With a focus on the legal business services sector, this edition brings together detailed salary data, benefits trends, support ratios, and commentary drawn from our work across the region. The data gathered has a central focus on the larger hubs of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Contingent vs. Retained Recruitment Support: Which One Is Right for You? 🤔💼 

Understanding the right type of recruitment support can make all the difference when hiring the perfect candidate. Let’s break down Contingent and Retained recruitment support: 

👉 Contingent Recruitment 

What is it? You only pay when a successful candidate is placed. 

Pros: No upfront cost, ideal for urgent hires, and access to a wide and established talent pool. 

Cons: Transactional approach and rarely allows time for a bespoke search from your recruiter.  This is especially true for non-exclusive contingent roles. Your recruiter will have to work with speed, searching within their established talent pool only to get CVs to you ahead of competitors. Advertising may commence, but you may miss out on newly attracted talent if your role has progressed. 

👉 Retained Recruitment 

What is it? You pay an upfront deposit on your recruitment fee to empower your recruiter to run advertising (either anonymous or with your company branding), screening, selection, interviewing and shortlisting. You review the shortlist presented and decide if you are moving any of the candidates to interview.  

Pros: A more focused and strategic approach, often used for senior-level or niche positions or by organisations seeking a thorough recruitment campaign allowing thime for a considered approach to each hires. 
Provides in-depth market insights, long-term partnership and a slower approach to hiring with a focus on getting the fit right. 

Cons: Requires a small upfront financial commitment, even if no hire is made. The financial commitment made is in relation to the service provided, not the final hire. 

Choosing the right model depends on your hiring needs and budget. For urgent hires, Contingent might be the way to go, but if you’re looking for a more tailored, strategic approach with a focus on cultural fit, Retained recruitment may be best for your organisation.
