A tough weekend on the scoreboard, with my daughter’s girls team going down in the semi-final and then her mixed team losing the final.

But there was something more this weekend that made me incredibly proud.

My daughter was made captain of her mixed team by her coaches, a team where she is the only girl.

To see her recognised in that way is pretty special. She has worked incredibly hard for her sport, is dedicated to improving, turns up and gives her best, and has developed into someone her coaches trust to lead.

The results didn’t go their way this weekend, but watching the way she approaches her sport, her work ethic, attitude, commitment and willingness to keep going. It makes me far prouder than any result could.

There’s something very powerful about being in a room with people who are willing to question whether there’s only one way to work, earn and build a life.

A different way of thinking about work, income & life.

That’s what the conversations I have with people are about.

And with so much happening behind the scenes right now, I have a feeling this is only the beginning of another exciting chapter.

Yesterday was a staff development day at my daughter’s school.

What did she and her friends decide to do with their day off?

Go for a surf.

I love that. No organising required. No convincing. Just straight to the beach.

There’s something so wholesome about the ocean being their happy place.

It’s fun, but it’s also challenging, grounding and full of opportunities for growth. Every surf seems to teach something - resilience, patience, courage and persistence.

Then today she had a great game of soccer with her boys’ team and, once again, it was straight to the beach afterwards for a surf with a friend.

The weather has been stunning for winter here in Sydney and the ocean, well it has a way of bringing clarity, calm and perspective that I can’t quite explain.

Feeling incredibly grateful today.

Grateful for where we live, grateful for the people around her, and grateful that I get to be present for so much of what she does.

Sometimes I wonder if she realises just how fortunate she is.

Then I realise I’m just as fortunate to witness it. 🌊🩵

This past couple of weeks have been ones I’ll hold close for a long time.

Watching my daughter out on the soccer field earning player of the match, collecting ribbons at her athletics carnival and backing up in repeat trials and matches then spending Mother’s Day together… I couldn’t be prouder.

But it’s not just the achievements. It’s who she is.

Kind. Determined. Supportive of others and so caring.
The way she shows up, not just for herself, but for the people around her. Probably more so for the people around her - so I have still have some work to do still so she values herself and knows her worth. 🩵

She really is my light and leads my purpose. 🌅

Moments like these remind me why I’ve made the choices I have - to change and create a life that allows me to be present, to witness it all, and to grow alongside her.

Because success, to me, now looks like this. Connection. Time. Being there for the moments that matter.

This wasn’t always the way though… solo parenting seemed to always be in the hard work category - but really those are the systems we have had to sit within.

I decided to do it differently and wish I’d realised that sooner.

Grateful for her and our life every day 💛
