The key to customer experience isn’t about preventing anything from going wrong as mistakes will happen from time to time. It’s about planning for the memory of the experience.

How many of us have swapped lines in a busy supermarket only to watch the original line move quicker and customers pass us by? We do it all the time, but why? Turns out Action Bias may be able to explain this everyday phenomenon.

One of the most recognisable examples of Affect Bias in communications is its use in Quit Smoking campaigns. We are often asked how much emotion is too much but often the key is providing a simple behavioural solution and fix to overcome the effect that is created.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing to have after an event. It’s easy to see the flaws in decision making after the event has occurred, however when we are making the decision, it’s hard to take in every single scenario to understand every single option. Even with all the information, making the right decision for the outcome you face is still a difficult process.

Hindsight Bias is one of the more common behavioural science principles and understanding this, we can start to understand government and business decisions a little bit more.
