Centurium Capital acquired Blue Bottle, giving Luckin Coffee a foreign backer. The acquisition reportedly cost $400 million USD, averaging approximately 18 million RMB per store – certainly not cheap.

With Luckin Coffee on one hand, offering affordable coffee, and Blue Bottle on the other, specializing in specialty coffee, is this preparation for Luckin‘s overseas expansion, or simply a better story to tell for its IPO?
