Babson Arabian Farm was one of the first straight Egyptian breeding programs in America?

And it is one of the longest-running Arabian breeding farms – if not THE longest – in America, from 1932 to 1999. Here's the story:

Henry Babson was among the first American breeders to import Arabians from Egypt as he was determined to breed straight Egyptian lines. In 1932, he imported his first horses from the studs of Prince Mohammed Ali, Prince Kernal El Dine, and the Royal Agricultural Society in Cairo, Egypt. Soon afterward he established the Babson Arabian Farm near Grand Detour, IL.

Babson was 57 years old when he imported his first horses. Despite this, he had almost a 40-year long career (dying at the age of 94 in 1969). Babson's farm and his legacy lived on through the management of his daughter Elizabeth and his farm manager, Homer Watson. Watson continued overseeing the breeding program for another 20 years until his death in 1990 and was succeeded by John Vogel. The farm continued right up until 1999, one of the longest continuous Arabian horse breeding farms in America.
