👩‍💼 A thought-provoking morning of leadership and connection at FACCI QLD
Today, FACCI QLD hosted a new edition of its Executive Women in Business series at EY Australia, bringing together leaders, professionals and emerging talent to explore the theme: Intergenerational Women in Business: Leading Across Industries.
The conversation highlighted how leadership evolves across careers, industries and generations, while revealing many shared aspirations and challenges.
Some key takeaways from the discussion:
✨ Seek out the people who encourage your growth. Sometimes it is a parent, friend or manager; other times it is an unconscious mentor whose example shapes your thinking and confidence.
✨ Don’t let self-doubt make decisions for you. Back yourself and pursue opportunities that align with your ambitions.
✨ Everyone has something valuable to contribute, regardless of age or career stage. The most effective workplaces create opportunities for knowledge to flow across generations, not just from senior to junior professionals.
✨ Purpose matters. New generations are increasingly driven by meaningful work and impact, but purpose is most powerful when paired with accountability, contribution and continuous learning.
✨ Flexibility is not a generational or a gender issue. While expectations may differ, the desire for flexibility and balance is shared across all stages of a career.
✨ Mentorship remains one of the most powerful ways to learn, gain perspective and accelerate personal and professional growth.
Thank you to our panellists, Daniele Bird, Madison Sturgess and Michelle Gane, for sharing their experiences and insights, and to Jeanne Vallade for moderating such an engaging discussion.
We are also grateful to EY Australia, Brisbane office, for hosting us and supporting this important conversation.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us. These conversations remind us that while generations may bring different perspectives, leadership is strengthened when experience, fresh thinking and diverse voices come together
