In 2020, a cost of living survey found more than half of respondents were spending between 26 percent and 50 percent of their pay on rent or their mortgage. This was before 10 interest rate hikes and 10-30% rental increases in the market. ⁠

The number since then has likely increased and the pressure is only going to continue to rise. ⁠
