When Therese first considered agency nursing, she thought she knew what she was signing up for.

But working across remote Australia gave her something she hadn’t expected.

Different communities. Unfamiliar healthcare settings. New challenges. And one placement in particular that changed the way she thought about her career.

She also discovered that one of the biggest assumptions people make about agency nurses couldn’t be further from her experience.

The right placement starts with the right questions.

Finding the right opportunity isn’t just about matching your experience to a vacancy. It starts with a conversation - and understanding what really matters to you.

Our consultants ask the questions that help uncover your priorities. What are your non-negotiables? What does your ideal work environment look like? Where do you want to be? What matters when it comes to rate, support, workload, flexibility and lifestyle?

Sometimes, the most useful question is the simplest:

“What would make you say yes to the role?”

Because when we understand what you are really looking for, we can focus on opportunities that genuinely fit - not just roles you are qualified for.

Looking for your next contract or locum placement? Start the conversation and tell us what matters to you.

This Wear It Purple Day, we are proud to support the 2026 theme, Colours of Courage.

Courage isn't only found in the big moments.

It's found in the everyday choices to be yourself, to support others, to speak up, to listen, and to help create spaces where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.

At Omega Medical, we believe inclusive workplaces strengthen teams, build better relationships and ultimately contribute to better outcomes for the communities we serve.

Today, we stand alongside LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies and communities across Australia in celebrating courage, inclusion and belonging.

Industry Insight: Regional Australia continues to rely on locum clinicians.

Workforce shortages in regional Australia are not a temporary challenge -they are an ongoing workforce reality. Increasingly, health services are relying on a combination of permanent staff and flexible locum workforces to maintain continuity of care for their communities.

But there is another side to the conversation that is often overlooked.
Regional locum work isn't just about filling workforce gaps. It also provides clinicians with experiences that can be difficult to find in metropolitan settings.

Working in smaller healthcare teams often means managing a broader scope of practice, developing greater clinical autonomy and building stronger relationships with patients and colleagues. It challenges clinicians to think differently, collaborate closely and grow their confidence across a diverse range of presentations.

Many clinicians also discover something unexpected: it's the communities they remember most. From coastal towns to remote outback communities, regional placements offer the opportunity to experience parts of Australia that many people never see, while making a tangible difference to the people who live there.

The result is a genuine win-win. Communities gain access to essential healthcare, while clinicians broaden their skills, strengthen their careers and often return for future placements.

We have recently refreshed our guide to working in regional, rural and remote Australia if you would like to learn more.

50 Years of Deadly.

This NAIDOC Week, we recognise and celebrate 50 years of a movement led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples,
communities, and culture.

The 2026 theme, 50 Years of Deadly, honours the Elders, activists, artists, leaders and communities who have shaped change, strengthened culture, and helped create a more inclusive future.

It is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of listening, learning, representation, and creating culturally safe environments across every part of Australian society, including healthcare.

We also acknowledge the ongoing contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare workers, whose knowledge, leadership and care continue to make a meaningful difference in communities across Australia.

As we celebrate the achievements of the past 50 years, we also look ahead to the next generation of leadership, advocacy and impact.

It’s not just what we do.
It’s how we do it.

At Omega Medical, recruitment isn’t about volume.
It’s about getting it right.

That means:
Clear communication from the start
Understanding what matters beyond the CV
Thinking ahead, not reacting late
Following through, every time

Because when the process works properly, everything else does too.

Better placements.
Stronger relationships.
More confident decisions.

That’s what working with Omega should feel like.

“The most important thing to me is the encouragement and reassurance along the way.”

When you are taking on a contract in a new country, it’s not just about the role.
It’s about having someone in your corner.

Paula recently shared her experience working with Niamh Omega Medical at Omega Medical, highlighting what matters most when making a big career move:
clear communication, consistency, and genuine support.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Because the right placement isn’t just about filling a gap.
It’s about helping someone take a confident step forward.

What if the biggest career decision isn't where you work, but how work fits into your life?

One of the most significant shifts we are seeing across healthcare recruitment isn't a shortage of opportunities.

It's a change in what clinicians are prioritising.

A few years ago, conversations often centred on location and pay.

Today, they are far more nuanced.

Clinicians are asking:
✔ Will this role give me more control over my time?
✔ How will this impact my family and personal life?
✔ What support will I have on the ground?
✔ How predictable is the roster and contract length?
✔ Does the opportunity align with my long-term goals?

Whether it's a doctor choosing shorter locum blocks to avoid burnout, a nurse seeking flexibility between contracts, or an Allied Health professional looking for the right team culture, the decision-making process has become more intentional.

And that is a positive change.

Healthcare professionals are no longer simply asking, "What's available?"
They are asking, "What's right for me?"

The recruiters who add the most value today aren't the ones with the biggest job list.

They are the ones who understand the person behind the CV.

Because the best placements don't just fill vacancies. They improve retention, reduce burnout, strengthen healthcare services, and ultimately lead to better outcomes for patients and communities.

If you are considering your next move, don't start with the job. Start with what you want your life and career to look like - then find the opportunity that supports it.
