Most organisations treat productivity as an output to fix.
The real question is: what’s driving it?

Inclusion is one of the biggest, and most overlooked, inputs into performance.

Ignore it, and you’ll keep chasing the symptom.

Diversity and inclusion expert and active ally, Troy Roderick says “We all know examples of when people edit themselves in workplaces or in meetings before speaking. Or every time someone doesn’t share a great idea because of who else is in the room. Or you know someone who’s very talented decides to stop trying. That’s actually a productivity loss and is actually a symptom of inclusion not occurring in your workplace.”

Where are you seeing this show up in your organisation right now?

Productivity issue or inclusion issue?

AI isn’t the problem. Leadership is.

“AI is the most convenient scapegoat in the history of corporate excuse-making.”

That line from Kara Bombell cuts straight through the noise.

We’re watching a shift where decisions that would once have raised serious questions are now framed as inevitable.
AI gets positioned as the cause.
In reality, it’s often covering for strategy that didn’t hold.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:
We’ve normalised a version of leadership that rewards decisiveness over accountability, and distance over responsibility.

That should concern all of us.

Because organisations don’t create value. People do.
And when that social contract is broken, it’s not innovation. It’s a failure of leadership.

Kara is one of the strongest voices today, pushing for a more human-centred approach to AI and organisational transformation. Not just asking what AI can do, but what leaders should be accountable for.

This is the conversation the tech sector needs to be having right now.

AI is already in your tech hiring process. Whether you like it or not.

So banning it in technical assessments?
That’s not control. That’s denial.

The reality:
🤨Many candidates are already using AI in take-home tests
🤨Some companies report the majority of candidates using it, even when prohibited
🤨Leading tech companies are now designing interviews that expect AI use, not avoid it

The question is no longer:
“How do we stop candidates using AI?”

It’s:
“What are we actually trying to assess?”

International Women’s Day is about honouring the global movement for gender equality.

Led by organisations like UN Women and powered by generations of women pushing for change, it is a moment to recognise both the progress made and the work still ahead.

But IWD is also a moment for organisations to ask an important question:

What are we actually changing?

Real progress happens when workplaces shift the systems that shape opportunity. Hiring. Pay. Leadership. Career pathways.

Today is a good day to celebrate.
It is also a good day to set intentions.
