Being present is a skill and one that matters in both business and personal relationships.
When youâre on in a meeting, on a phone call, and on a date, being genuinely present means listening rather than planning your response, and paying attention to the person in front of you.
Itâs in those small moments of attention - real connection develops.
And there are more skills that can make a significant difference, including learning to pause. Not every emotion needs an immediate reaction. Not every frustration needs an instant response. And not every difficult conversation needs to be resolved in the moment.
Taking a breath and allowing yourself time to process can help you respond thoughtfully rather than react emotionally.
Whether youâre building a relationship with a colleague, a client or a potential partner, presence, patience and emotional awareness create the space for stronger, more genuine connections.
Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is simply stop, listen and be there.
Which skill from our video do you think is most important in business and personal relationships.
