21/12/2023
As we are all doing, I have been spending some time reflecting on the year that was.
2023 was probably one of the most challenging years of my life from a personal level; while there were some highs - a new family member on the horizon and some precious time away with my daughters- there have been a few tragic, life-altering events from which I, and those in my "inner circle", are still feeling, and will feel acutely over the next week.
On a professional level, there was a definite high with an award that I would never have imagined possible when I started my career as a mediator. Yet, my work as a mediator also brings with it the privilege of working with individuals and organisations for whom day-to-day living brings levels of hardship, trauma and distress that I cannot imagine.
2023 has taught me a few things, but one of the most significant learnings is that simply walking alongside someone, or having someone walk alongside you, during both the highs and lows of life, is the greatest gift.
Thanks to the continued support of our clients, in 2023, R3 Resolutions has continued to support The Good Box by donating boxes of essential items to people experiencing homelessness. I certainly encourage everyone to continue to support their charity of choice at this time of year - particularly as the cost of living continues to stretch many to the edge - however, if you are looking for a charity to support, consider the work that The Good Box does.
As the year draws to a close, while enjoying time to celebrate holidays and rest, please take a moment to slow down and walk alongside those for whom this time of year, or time of life, is difficult.
Something as little as a text or note just telling someone you are thinking of them may be the best present they will receive, and the most important one you can give.
Thank you to all my clients and colleagues who have "done 2023" with R3 Resolutions. Rebecca Mulae and I will be back from leave in late January 2024, and we look forward to mediating and facilitating with you next year.
Merry Christmas!
