🧭 Thinking about sponsoring yourself for an Australian visa?

Yes, it’s possible under the 482 (Skills in Demand) visa - but it’s not as simple as just owning a company.

If you’re a founder, business owner, or skilled professional who works full-time in your own business, self-sponsorship can be a real pathway to stay and grow in Australia.
But it also comes with tight scrutiny from the Department of Home Affairs.

Here are a few things you must get right:
⚠️ You must be an employee, not a contractor - with an employment contract, payslips and super.
💼 Your occupation must be highly relevant to what your business actually does.
💰 The business needs financial capacity to pay you at least the market salary (and no less than $76,515 for FY26).
📋 Watch for occupation-specific caveats - like turnover, restaurant type or minimum salary levels.
👥 Set up a proper director structure so your skilled role is clearly separated from your owner duties.

✅ Self-sponsorship isn’t a loophole - it’s a structured pathway.
Plan early, stay compliant, and build a strong foundation before applying.

If your boss has agreed to sponsor you for a 482, 186, or 494 visa — congratulations! But saying yes is just the beginning.

📍 Already Working in Regional Australia? Don’t Miss Your Sponsorship Options 📍

If you’re employed in a skilled role outside Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, your regional job could make employer sponsorship easier than you think.

Here’s why:
✅ Regional employers often have a stronger case to prove labour shortages
✅ Sponsorship under 482, 186, or 494 visas leads to stable work and PR opportunities
✅ Some regions also benefit from DAMA concessions - wider job lists, relaxed age/English/salary requirements (varies by region)

💡 We’ve guided employers and workers through sponsorships in regional areas, turning short-term uncertainty into clear PR pathways.

⚡ Limited Time: I’m offering a FREE consultation for employer-sponsored visas (482, 186, 494). Secure your spot before the free slots run out.

🌏 Working in Regional Australia But Over 45? Your PR Pathway Might Still Be Open 🌏

If you’re close to or over 45 years old and already working in regional Australia, the Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) could keep your permanent residency goal alive.

DAMA is part of the Labour Agreement stream under the 482, 186, and 494 visas (all require employer sponsorship). There are 13 different DAMAs across Australia — each with its own rules.

Why DAMA can be a game-changer:
✅ Higher age limits – often up to 55 for certain roles
✅ Wider occupation lists – jobs not on standard PR lists included
✅ Lower English requirements – some allow IELTS overall 5.0
✅ Lower minimum salary – more flexibility for regional employers
✅ Lower work experience requirements – quicker eligibility for PR

💡 Example: A Motor Mechanic on a 482 DAMA for 2–3 years could apply for a 186 DAMA (PR) at age 54 with IELTS 5.0.

⚠️ Benefits vary by occupation and region — always check the specific DAMA rules before applying.

💬 If you’re 45+ (or getting close) and working in a regional area, message me via the WhatsApp button. I’ll check if your occupation and location qualify for DAMA age concessions — so you don’t miss your PR chance.

482 visa English update (PTE Academic) 🎯

From 13 Sep 2025, English tests for the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa must meet Vocational English (per LIN25/016).

If you take PTE Academic on/after 13 Sep 2025, you’ll need at least:

✅ Listening 33
✅ Reading 36
✅ Writing 29
✅ Speaking 24

If your PTE was taken before 13 Sep 2025 (and is still within its 3-year validity at the time of visa application), the old rule applies: 36 in each component.

🚨 Working in a DAMA Region? You May Have Extra Pathways to Visa Sponsorship! 🚨

If you're in a regional area covered by a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), you might have more options than you think - especially for the 482 visa.

Here’s why DAMA could be a game-changer for you:

✅ Over 45? Some DAMAs allow age concessions — even up to 55 for certain roles.
✅ Low Salary? Your role might not need to meet the standard $76,515 threshold.
✅ Occupation not on the usual list? DAMA opens doors for many roles excluded from standard visa streams.

But here’s the catch 👉 Every DAMA is different - and even within the same region, each occupation has its own set of rules.

📍 If you work in areas like Far North Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, Orana (NSW), or other DAMA zones - don’t miss out just because you didn’t know your options.

💡 Before you talk to your employer, speak to someone who understands DAMAs. I’m a registered migration agent - let me help make it easy by assessing your situation and guiding you (and your employer) through the process.

💬 Need help now? Message me via the WhatsApp button - let’s find out if DAMA can work for you.

🚨 Need Your Employer to Sponsor Your Visa (482)? Read This First! 🚨
Are you working in Australia and hoping to stay longer through visa sponsorship?
Don’t just ask for it — strategically prepare for the conversation. Here’s how smart workers secure a 482 visa:

✅ Know if Your Job Qualifies
Some roles (like Marketing Manager, Chef, Accountant) come with extra rules. Make sure your company can actually sponsor your position.

✅ Check if Your Employer is Eligible
Not every business can or will sponsor. Look for signs: Are they financially stable? Do they mostly hire local staff?

✅ Make Sure Your Salary Meets the 2025 Minimum
From July 2025, you must earn at least $76,515 + super. If you’re under that, consider negotiating a raise before talking about sponsorship.

✅ Prove You’re Worth It
Show your boss the value you bring — why you’re essential, not replaceable.

✅ Get a Migration Agent Involved Early
Employers worry about “complications.” Let me help make it easy. I can guide both you and your boss — no guesswork, just solutions.

💬 Need help now? Message me via the WhatsApp button and I’ll help you out.

🎯 Let’s make your visa plan clear, credible, and achievable.

🚀🚀🚀 How to Negotiate Visa Sponsorship with Your Boss (5 Must-Know Tips)

Thinking about asking your employer for visa sponsorship (482/186 visa)? It’s a BIG conversation, and you’ll need the right approach 🔑 Here’s how to prepare:

1️ Check if Your Role Has "Caveats"
Not all jobs qualify equally! Some occupations (e.g., Sales & Marketing Manager, Accountant, Chef) have extra rules, like:
✔ Minimum company turnover
✔ Employee headcount requirements
✔ Business type restrictions (e.g., fast food vs. full-service restaurant)
Do your homework first—know the rules before bringing it up.

2️ Is Your Company in a Position to Sponsor?
Ask yourself:
✔ Is the business financially stable?
✔ Does it already hire visa holders, or mostly locals?
Even if you’re not in management, these clues help gauge if sponsorship is realistic.

3️ Does Your Salary Meet the New Threshold?
From July 2025, the minimum salary for sponsorship jumps to $76,515 + Super. If you’re below this:
✔ Can you make a case for a raise?
✔ Is your pay in line with industry standards?

4️ Prove Why You’re Worth the Investment
Your employer needs a reason to sponsor you. Ask yourself:
✔ What key contributions have you made?
✔ Is there a critical part of the business that depends on you?
✔ How hard would it be to replace you?
Frame it as a long-term partnership, not just a visa request.

5️ Get Expert Advice Before Talking to Your Boss
Many employers worry about "visa complications." If you’ve already:
✔ Researched the process
✔ Spoken to a migration agent
✔ Can offer a three-way discussion (you + boss + agent)
…you’ll sound confident and prepared, not uncertain.

💡💡💡 Key Takeaway
Don’t just ask—make a strong case. Show how sponsoring you benefits the business, and have a Plan B ready.

🚨 NSW NIV Nomination – New Insights from Official Briefing (5 June 2025)

Just attended an in-person session with the NSW government team responsible for 190/491 and the new NIV nominations. Here’s a concise wrap-up of key takeaways:

🧠 What the National Innovation Visa (NIV) is about
The NIV supports individuals with proven track records in innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, academia, sports, or the creative industries. It’s about real-world impact, not just future plans.

✅ Five streams of NSW NIV nominations:

Researchers & Academics – solving real-world problems

Entrepreneurs – founders of scalable ventures

Innovative Investors – driving NSW’s future industries

Sports People – global achievers in sporting excellence

Creatives – artists, designers, storytellers

⛔ What it’s not:

❌ Not a passive investor visa

❌ Not for vague, untested ideas

❌ Not granted based on potential alone

❌ Not for those without demonstrated achievements

🔍 What NSW is looking for:

Past accomplishments

Ventures already underway

Alignment with NSW priorities

Plans backed by evidence and credibility

📌 Nomination Process:

Submit EOI to NSW

NSW shortlists EOIs

Selected applicants invited to apply

Third-party endorsement required

Application assessed

Final nomination issued (Form 1000 + Letter)

📅 NSW’s EOI portal is expected to open early July 2025.

🎯 NSW aims to attract exceptional global talent that strengthens priority industries and delivers on its 20-Year R&D Plan and innovation roadmap.
