When Red Bull entered the market they didn't spend millions on ads or make sure everyone got free drinks to review - they dumped thousands of empty cans into public bins and trash cans to create intrigue and desire from people passing by. "What's this drink?" "Why's everyone drinking it, must be good!".
Similarly with trends, you can't always guarantee they'll work, but if you selectively place them around in prominent spots, in a recurring manner, more often than not it'll catch on and spread! ππΌ
