Should Meta's first-ever drop in daily active users change your comms strategy? Not necessarily, but it should prompt some important questions. 💡

Are you over-indexed on one platform? Is your channel mix actually reflecting where your audiences are today? And is your organic content working hard enough as paid reach gets more competitive?

Swipe through for what we think it means for communicators. 👉

Imagine telling a joke and no one laughs. Awkward. 😅

Now imagine presenting your engagement and reach data to a room of leaders who have no idea what any of it means. Familiar?

Social media managers speak in metrics – impressions, engagements, optimisation, test-and-learn loops. It makes perfect sense to those in the work every day.

But leaders think in outcomes.

And when those two don’t connect, even the strongest insights get lost in translation.

The best social media managers don’t just report on performance. They turn trends into decisions, and dashboards into something leaders can actually act on. 📊

Because the most valuable insight means nothing if the person who needs it can't see why it matters.

Friendly reminder: AI is great at processing data. Understanding it properly? That still takes people. 👫

In communications, tone, cultural sensitivity, and shifting public sentiment shape the outcome. It goes beyond what is said to how and why it lands.

Without the human in the loop, you risk skipping past the context, judgement, and nuance that take scattered pieces of information and translate them into accurate insights.

AI helps cut through the noise. Humans refine and guide. That strategic layer is what separates insights that are fast into ones you can trust. 🔍

What came first: the chicken or the egg?

Who knows. But what we do is whether to optimise for clicks or credibility!

Too often, we hear from clients struggling to get executive buy-in for creative ideas. There’s a tendency to prioritise purely functional outputs such as consultation updates, grant announcements, over content that actually engages.

But clicks come from credibility, which is earned over time, through consistent, value-driven communications that meet audiences where they are, in a way that they want to engage with.

In an earned space like social media, credibility comes from creating high-quality, engaging content.

Struggling to get creative ideas over the line? Our report will help with that: http://spr.ly/6188B6lLCQ

In complex information environments, understanding where narratives and risks are heading is just as important as understanding where they are today.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Canberra for the KINSHIP Digital Intelligence Forum: Foresight-Led Intelligence. 🚀

We’re grateful to our speakers for sharing their expertise and to everyone who contributed to the discussion. The insights in the room highlighted the growing role of foresight and longitudinal intelligence in understanding and preparing for evolving risks.

Three key takeaways:
1. Trust starts internally. If organisations want to build trust with the public, they must first build trust within their own teams and systems.
2. Intelligence is evolving. It’s shifting from static products toward being embedded directly in decision-making, helping shape and drive decisions rather than simply informing them.
3. The biggest risk is inaction. The risk of doing nothing now outweighs the risk of trying, trialling and innovating — particularly in fast-moving information environments.

We appreciate everyone who attended and looking forward to welcoming you to future KINSHIP events.

Australia’s under-16s social media ban sparked strong support but also immediate uncertainty around enforcement, privacy and compliance.

As the rollout began, dominant signals weren’t ideological. They were practical: How does age verification work? What happens to existing accounts? Who is responsible? 💬

That gap between policy intent and public interpretation is where risk accumulates.

When used continuously, Voice of Citizen turns live feedback into adaptive implementation.

We tracked how often “Punch, the monkey” was mentioned online — and the spike happened faster than expected.

Can you believe Punch only entered our lives 8 days ago? That’s how fast the internet moves. In just 24 hours, mentions of “Punch the monkey” grew roughly 10-fold overnight.

What’s interesting about Punch is the investment. People want to see him make friends. They want him to thrive. That emotional buy-in is keeping him relevant — and helping the trend last longer than your average viral moment.

So… is Punch on your radar yet? 🐒

The Senate Estimates last week sparked 3.46K mentions online. What were people talking about? 💬

The conversation showed a tension between public criticism of political and social issues and appreciation for parliamentary advocacy, international diplomacy, and community initiatives. Negative posts focused on scrutiny and debate, while neutral and positive posts highlighted parliamentary activity and policy discussion.

These snapshots reveal how attention and sentiment shift during high-visibility events.
