Yes — history has a smell. (H**p rope smells like sheep.) 🐑
Living history + archaeology workshops for incursions where students learn through evidence — just like archaeologists — objects, materials, wear, pattern… and become immersed through the sensory learning of living history and experimental archaeology practice — the stuff you can’t “read” off a page.
It’s sensory, hands-on, and built around inquiry: observe → infer → justify → revise.
Students get to:
• handle replica tools/utensils/materials informed by archaeological finds (made to be used)
• partake in experimental archaeology through making
• practise evidence language: “This suggests… because…”
Designed for real school days: 45–60 mins • cap 25 • bell-time friendly.
If you’re planning:
• Stage 4: Vikings + Medieval Europe.
• Stage 2/3 option: early colonial Australia.
