Turns out, running a recycling company involves a lot more wrestling with plastic than I anticipated 😂♻️

Soft plastics are bulky, full of air and take up A LOT of space, so getting them compact makes them much easier to store, handle and transport.

Enter the Shrinker! from Wholly Shrink! 🙌 It turns a mountain of soft plastics into these very satisfying little nuggets, without me having to climb into a tub and squash them down myself.

Less space. Less wrestling. Much happier recycler.

Most people don’t realise blister packs can’t go in your household recycling bin. That’s where we come in. Save them up, book a WiSE collection, and we’ll make sure they end up in the right place. ♻️

On Tuesdays we do the rounds collecting empty milk bottles from local cafes 🥛

We wash them, remove their stickers, cut them up and prep them for shredding ✂️

Rigid plastic is a resource, if we can get it before it ends up in landfill we can give it a second life, one that will benefit local communities 💪🏽

Ever wondered what ACTUALLY happens to your unwanted clothes once we’ve collected them from your doorstep?

They are taken to our wonderful friends at Textile Recyclers Australia where the worn clothes go one way and the new clothes go another way.

All their zips, buttons and trims get removed, the clothes are then sorted based on fabric and they are then shredded and made into new products such a furniture stuffing, non-woven felt & new clothing and bags.

📢 Hot Tip - We also accept your old underwear (must be washed…obviously) 🩲👙

The final numbers for 2025 are in and since we started collecting data in May last year we have diverted over 200kg of hard plastic from landfill!!

When less than 12% of plastic is recycled from our regular curb side recycling bins, the amazing WiSE community can be proud of keeping their hard to recycle waste out of landfill.

Of course we didn’t just collect hard plastic, overall we diverted over 300kg of hard to recycle waste including clothing, blister packs, dental hygiene products and more!

And let’s not forget all the rewards you redeemed each month for simply recycling. 💸

Let’s keep up the momentum for 2026 💪🏽
