Tony Albert’s survey exhibition ‘Not a Souvenir’ at Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

Provocative, confronting and incredibly powerful, asking one to sit with the historical and continuing commodification and misrepresentation of Australian First Nations people, alongside his reclamation of imagery, voice and agency through wit, humour and resistance.

There is necessary discomfort, but also, for me, so much beauty, strength and hope. A show that stays with you.

Tony Albert

Larrakia Country, it was so good to be back.

Amongst the beautiful whirlwind of four days spent viewing Aboriginal art (highlights to come), I found moments to sit in your embrace, breathe into your stillness and reconnect with old friends.
