This month, Rewind Photo Lab celebrates 10 years of service in the photographic community. Launched in 2016 by Paul and Steve, our humble storefront in Glebe provided color and black-and-white film development, scanning, and printing, along with film and camera sales.
We received wonderful community support and an immediate demand for additional services, so Rewind soon began processing slide film and offering large-format printing. As support swiftly grew, we quickly needed to expand!
In 2017, Rewind launched a new store location right next door. It included a photographic gallery space, and our services expanded into large-format film processing, Imacon X5 scanning, and supporting local photographic events.
By 2019, Rewind had become a respected bastion in the local photographic industry—and then COVID arrived. Our operations continued behind closed doors, as photography became a vital creative respite for many.
When doors finally reopened and demand kept growing, we once again looked at the industry to see how we could further contribute. Research and development into motion picture services began, and in 2021, the decision was made to relocate and bring something completely new to Sydney.
In 2022, Rewind Photo Lab launched in our current Alexandria premises alongside a satellite store in Wollongong. Moving to a larger space meant we could now offer on-site Super 8 and 16mm motion film processing as well as videotape transfers, which officially launched by the end of that year.
Reflecting upon the past ten years with immense gratitude and pride, we want to thank everyone who has been a part of Rewind and look forward to the next 10 years of growth and sharing in your photographic endeavors.
