The Department of Financeโs latest procurement statistics show:
โข 86,926 contracts with a combined reported value of $104.9 billion were awarded during this period
โข 45,556 contracts were awarded to SMEs = 52.4% of total contract volume.
โข SMEs secured 51.9% of contract value for contracts below $20 million.
Meanwhile, just 288 contracts worth $20 million or more accounted for 60.5% of the value of newly reported contracts.

Smaller Commonwealth contracts represent a credible growth market for SMEs. Focus on categories and contract sizes where you can demonstrate relevant experience, delivery capacity and value for money.
For larger opportunities, consider whether your strongest position is as a specialist subcontractor, consortium member or delivery partner for a defined work package.
The best opportunity isnโt always the biggest contract. Itโs the one your business is well placed to win, and deliver on.
