🇨🇦 Canada has held a new category-based Express Entry draw for physicians with Canadian work experience.
On 3 September 2026, IRCC issued 229 Invitations to Apply, with a minimum CRS score of 198.
However, this score did not apply to every Express Entry candidate. It was specific to eligible physicians who met the requirements of this targeted category.
To qualify for the Physicians with Canadian Work Experience category, candidates must generally:
• Be eligible for one of the programs managed through Express Entry
• Have at least 12 months of eligible Canadian work experience within the past three years
• Have that experience in one of these occupations:
▪️ Specialists in clinical and laboratory medicine — NOC 31100
▪️ Specialists in surgery — NOC 31101
▪️ General practitioners and family physicians — NOC 31102
The required experience may be full-time or an equivalent amount of part-time work and does not need to be continuous.
Receiving an invitation is not the same as receiving permanent residence. Applicants must still prove their Express Entry eligibility, qualifying work experience and admissibility when submitting their application. Invited candidates normally have 60 days to apply.
