Even though neither team will be heading to the finals this year, the rivalry remains as fierce as ever, and that’s half the fun.

Working closely with Scentre Group, it’s a welcome change of pace to unwind in a family‑friendly atmosphere and enjoy the game we all love.

While the colours may differ and the competition on the field can get spirited, it’s a timely reminder that the strongest outcomes, in sport and in business, come from people united by shared goals.
Respect, teamwork and strong relationships are what drives success.

Tonight, we’ll enjoy the friendly banter from the sidelines and celebrate what brings us together.

Good luck to both teams and may the best side take home the win.

SEPTEMBER IS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

We continue to encourage support for Neuroblastoma by sharing our fundraising link:

https://team-savcon-supporting-neuroblastoma-childhood-cancer.raiselysite.com/

This cause is deeply personal to us. In 2017, at just ten weeks old, Huey, son of our valued long‑time team member Lindsay May, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. After six exhausting months of chemotherapy, Huey went into remission. His strength and the resilience of his family, remain a powerful reminder of why awareness and research matter.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, recognised globally since 2010, shines a light on the realities families face. The gold ribbon symbolises the fight for better treatments and better futures for children affected by cancer.

The statistics are confronting. More than 1,000 children and adolescents in Australia, and 400,000 worldwide, are diagnosed with cancer each year. Cancer takes more young lives in Australia than any other disease, and even for those who survive, most will face long‑term effects from treatment.

This is why we continue to ask for support. Every donation helps fund research, improve outcomes, and give families hope. If you’re able, please stand with us in supporting children and families affected by Neuroblastoma.

Thank you!

SAVCON DELIVERS

Savcon’s completion of the mass timber works at Mount Alvernia College marks the close of one of Queensland’s most technically demanding timber installations in recent years.

Located at 82 Cremorne Road in Kedron, the project brings together the design intelligence of m3architecture, the structural expertise of Bligh Tanner, and the delivery capability of Hutchison Builders, all supported by Australian made timber supplied by Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) and NexTimber.

From the outset, the brief centred on precision. The structure required a series of complex, bespoke connection details that pushed the boundaries of conventional mass timber construction.

Savcon’s role focused exclusively on the installation of the timber structure, a scope defined by meticulous coordination, rigorous quality control and an unwavering commitment to Australian sourced materials.

The result is a building that reflects both architectural ambition and construction discipline. Every element, every junction, every interface, was executed to meet the high standards set by the project team and the College.

With the Queensland works now complete, Savcon’s presence on site has concluded for the moment. The team leaves behind a project that stands as a benchmark for detailed mass timber delivery and looks forward to returning to Queensland soon for the next chapter.

Thanks to all who have made and continue to make this project a true standout.

PROGRESS AT THE BULLDOGS

Progress on the Bulldogs Centre of Excellence continues to build with works now underway at 3 Edison Lane, Belmore.

The project has moved confidently into its commencement phase, with coordinated activity across the wider delivery team establishing a strong foundation for what will become a landmark facility at Belmore Sports Ground.

Savcon is advancing the design, supply and installation of the mass timber and structural steel components, working alongside: Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs Kane Constructions HB Architecture & Planning ADP Consulting HESS Timber Specialised Timber Fabrication GK Blue Ironwood Engineering Off Site Design.

The integrated approach across these disciplines is driving steady, well‑structured progress on site.

The new Centre of Excellence will introduce high‑performance training and administration spaces for the Bulldogs, complemented by community‑focused amenities that support players, fans and local sporting groups.

As construction develops, core areas, including NRL standard men’s and women’s change rooms, the gymnasium, medical and aquatic recovery zones, breakout and education spaces, and administrative offices, are beginning to take shape.

A key milestone within this early progress is the dedicated NRLW facilities, strengthening pathways for women’s and girls’ rugby league across Western Sydney.

Further updates will be shared as the project continues to advance.

Heritage Timber Returns to Central Station

PROJECT NAME: Atlassian Parcel Sheds
ADDRESS: 8–10 Lee Street, Sydney C*D
CLIENT: Atlassian
BUILDER: Built
CONTRACTOR: Savcon

The Atlassian Parcel Sheds restoration has reached a key milestone, with original heritage timbers soon to be reinstated at Central Station. Savcon, working with Built, is leading the precise reconstruction of the historic structure.

Savcon dismantled, catalogued and preserved every timber element, materials that have shaped Sydney’s rail history for over a century. Each piece has been cleaned, stripped, dressed and recoated to meet modern standards while retaining its character. The restored timbers are now being reinstalled as part of Atlassian’s precinct renewal.

“This project lets us blend traditional craftsmanship with modern construction,” said Mario Savva, Managing Director of Savcon. “Every piece keeps its story while being prepared for new use.”

Established in 1999, Savcon is a leader in mass timber and commercial carpentry, known for delivering complex architectural timber projects across Australia and internationally. Built is overseeing the broader precinct transformation, ensuring the revitalised Parcel Sheds honour their heritage while supporting sustainable, adaptive reuse.

The restoration contributes to the wider renewal of the Atlassian building and Central Station, strengthening the precinct’s role as a major civic and transport hub.

Gaia at NTU Singapore stands as Asia’s largest mass timber building. A landmark project that demonstrates how advanced timber engineering can redefine scale, sustainability and architectural ambition.

Our specialist expertise to key mass timber installation, craftsmanship, and detailing, ensured the structure met stringent performance, precision and durability requirements expected of a project of this calibre.

Its biophilic design is central to the building’s identity. Warm timber surfaces, natural textures and expansive internal vistas create an environment where students and visitors feel connected to the outdoors even while inside.

This seamless relationship between nature and learning supports wellbeing, comfort and a more intuitive experience of space.

We’re currently working across a range of exhibits, each designed with modular framing systems that allow components to be pre‑manufactured and efficiently assembled on site.

Although every exhibit is a one‑off design, each structure is intentionally engineered for disassembly, reinstatement, or material reuse.

It’s a forward thinking approach that supports flexibility, sustainability and smarter construction outcomes.
