We recently completed a focused training session at the Hilti Australia Customer Training Centre in Seven Hills, sharpening our skills in Chemical Injection systems and receiving an essential Silica Awareness update.

The session delivered practical, technical insights that will immediately strengthen the way our teams operate on-site, reinforcing both quality and safety.

Working with Hilti Australia reflects our commitment to continuous learning and industry leading standards. Their expertise and collaborative approach make a measurable impact on how we refine our methods and stay ahead of evolving requirements.

A genuine thank you to the Hilti team for an engaging, hands‑on experience. Savcon looks forward to building on this partnership as we continue raising the bar across every project.

We are pleased to share an update on the progress at 1ACA, the prominent development taking shape at 1 Constitution Avenue in Canberra.

Client: Capital Property Group
Contractor: Construction Control
Architects: Bates Smart Structural Engineers: TTW
Timber Supply: ASH and XLam

We continue to contribute to a project that reflects the growing sophistication of mass‑timber construction in Australia.

Our initial scope, which covered design support along with the supply and installation of the mass‑timber structure, has now been successfully delivered.

The quality of our work on site has been met with strong recognition and as a result the Builder has expanded our involvement.

With great pleasure, we will continue to support the next phase of this significant development and look forward to sharing further updates.

LET'S HEAR FROM DAVE DIRECT
(Expert Presenter at This Year's cmBuilder SitePlan Series Event, Sydney)

"Speaking at the cmBuilder SitePlan Series in Sydney was a great chance to share how we at Savcon are using digital planning to deliver complex mass timber projects more efficiently. More than that, it was a reminder of how valuable it is to step out of project mode and connect with others who are trying to solve the same problems.

For me, the real shift isn’t moving from 2D to 3D, it’s using digital tools to plan the build before we get to site. With cmBuilder, we’re bringing design and fabrication models, temporary works, cranage, machinery, scaffold, weather protection, façade interfaces, logistics and programme sequencing into one coordinated environment. It gives us clarity early, reduces assumptions and helps our site teams work with confidence.

A few themes we explored on the day:

- Testing construction sequences before work begins
- Integrating temporary works, access and lifting strategies
- Parametrically assessing machinery and cranage options
- Linking programme logic with real site constraints
- Combining multiple models into one buildable plan
- Supporting site teams with clearer visual planning.

For mass timber, this level of planning is essential. Fabrication accuracy, sequencing, logistics, temporary works and weather management all need to be aligned long before materials arrive.

Events like this matter because they push the industry forward. They give us space to share what’s working, challenge old habits and learn from each other. It was great to be part of that conversation and to see so many people leaning into smarter, more coordinated ways of building.

I'd like to congratulate and thank the organisers, the other Presenters and those in attendance."

Our works at The Illawarra Grammar School (TIGS) are now complete.

This is a refined, high performance campus which is evolving with intention, craft and architectural ambition.

Delivered alongside Rohrig Betti & Knut, Northrop Consulting Engineers and Big River Group the project reflects a shared commitment to precision and material integrity.

Within the new PassivHaus Certified structure, our scope centred on two meticulously executed elements:

1. External timber cladding: warm, textural and installed with the accuracy required for airtight, thermal performance
2. Aluminium louvres and window surrounds: clean architectural lines that frame light and reinforce the building’s rhythm.

PassivHaus construction is a discipline of detail. A quiet pursuit of airtightness, insulation continuity and performance driven design. Our role sits at the intersection of craft and engineering, where every junction, line and tolerance contributes to the building’s overall efficiency.

TIGS demanded that level of finesse and the result is a structure that performs as beautifully as it presents.

The finished building is comfortable, healthy and inherently sustainable. A learning environment that reduces energy use and carbon emissions while elevating the everyday experience of its occupants. It’s a forward thinking project shaped by a forward thinking team and Savcon is proud to have played a part in bringing it to life.

A temporary site set up may not be the most glamorous stage of a build, but it’s one of the most important.

Our Luddenham project is moving efficiently, supported by for timber, Roofing Supermarket for sheeting and Roof Stylers as our installation partner.

It’s the second major set up we’ve delivered this year, following the successful Liverpool School project.

Strong construction always begins with strong foundations. Temporary amenities, hoardings, access points and safety infrastructure shape how a site functions long before the main works begin. When these elements are executed well, the entire project benefits from smoother workflows, safer conditions and a more productive environment.

This is the quiet work that sets the tone for everything that follows. Delivering reliable, well‑planned site facilities ensures major projects start with clarity, order and momentum.

Good luck to the crew on site for the remainder of the project.

Savcon is proud to stand behind the 2026 “All In Together” campaign for Construction Safety Week. It’s a reminder that safety is not just a slogan, but a responsibility we share on every site, every day.

This year’s focus on recognising, responding to, and respecting hazardous work, aligns strongly with the way we operate. Construction carries significant risks and responsibilities and ensuring our people go home safe remains our non‑negotiable.

To support this commitment, Savcon relies on Procore Technologies as our central platform for managing safety processes, documentation and compliance. Its real‑time visibility and streamlined workflows help our teams stay accountable, informed and aligned across every project.

Savcon continues to use Construction Safety Week as an opportunity to strengthen our safety culture and reinforce the controls that keep our sites safe.

We are "All In Together" for the safety of every worker who steps onto a Savcon site.
