Today I met a most interesting man.
Paolo Sandulli is a poet, artist and sculptor who has his studio in a tower.
Even the tower is most interesting
Together they are fascinating and Paolo is using his best creativity to see that the uniqueness of each is preserved.
Paolo’s arts are inspired a 15th-century sculptor, Francesco Laurana, and he has innovated this style to express his passion for the sea. These pictures include samples of his works.
The tower, named Tower of Assiola, is one of 30 similar towers along this part of the Italian Amalfi coast dating back 800 years to the days when pirates ruled the seas.
I chatted with Paolo in the tower perched high over the crashing waves and climbed the rickety staircase, which seems as old as the tower. It’s easy to imagine the scared fishermen peering out of the tiny windows/holes onto the Mediterranean Sea, watching for the warring foreign ships lunging towards their villages. As he told me about his art and sculptures I was intrigued by all that history is now caught in the stories of this man.
Paolo is a great testimony for a person who steps out to pursue their dream and passion in the arts and do business.
