We ran a fun exercise at our recent business summit.

I asked the room to get their hands as high as they possibly could, in 10 seconds. Everyone scrambled, stood on chairs, stretched and most people topped out at about chair height.

Then I gave them the same task again, only this time, one minute.

The dynamic changed: people stopped competing for height individually and started working together. They lifted each other, built human towers and a few got all the way to the roof.

In the same circumstances, the only variable that changed was their time horizon.

That's exactly what happens in business.

When you're operating in reactive mode, solving whatever's loudest right now, you get brute force effort and modest results.

When you extend the time horizon and stop reacting, you stop scrambling alone and start building based on the plans you made with the people around you.

If you want to go further in business, make the shift.

The NRLW regular season just wrapped up and it was a privilege to sponsor the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Georgia Ravics this year.

Sport has been a huge part of my life, and backing it at this level means something to me personally.

Of course, the girls would be the first to admit it wasn't their best season, but I think there's something valuable in saying that.

In business, sport and life, the seasons that don't go to plan are the ones that teach you the most if you're willing to look at them honestly.

The best teams I've observed and worked with don't shy away from a hard debrief and I'm sure the girls will be no different.

Great teams separate effort from outcome, because they know you can give everything and still lose and use that conversation to find the lever that will enable future success.

Failure only costs you once if you learn from it. It costs you repeatedly if you don't.

Having seen them in action, I'm backing this amazing group of women to come back even bigger ad better next year.

I can't wait to see what this group builds from here!
