G'day All,

Lifes become very busy with winter on the way. Sounds strange, I know but this is a good idea. It prepares your kit for storage over winter/autum and ensures that at the start of spring you're good to go.

Here are some basic things to remember for storing kit over winter are:

1. Four stroke kit; empty the fuel and then run the item until the fuel in the system is gone and the unit stops.

2. Two stroke kit; also empty the fuel tank but rather than run the carby dry, simply use the primer pump to push the fuel into the empty tank. Then empty that fuel from the tank also.

3. Make sure the unit is clean top and bottom. Scrape and wash any grass build up from the mowing deck/cutting head. This will help prevent corrosion but more importantly stop the growth of mold and fungus which grows in this build-up. This mold and fungus can be extremely hazardous to your health and anyone else who may be exposed to it.

4. Give the cables and moving parts a little lubrication, and

5. Finally, when spring arrives or if you use it during the storage period, use fresh fuel. You can use premium fuel 95 or 98 if you wish although this isn't compulsory.

Enjoy the "no mow season",

Bill D.

G'day to all y'all,

What can I say but I'm a tad slack when it comes to my page.
I would rather be doing the hands on thing, than playing with tech, such as this.
I've been kept busy by the people of the peninsula and some as far as the bay. Currently, my biggest problem is sourcing spares in a timely fashion. Yes I can go to the dealers however, none of them proved me with any discounts that I can pass on to my clients.
I would like to thank everyone for their support over this summer and now that it's begining to quiet down, I may have time to mow my own patch of weeds.

So should need any help with your garden equipment give me a call on: 0499 223 573.

G'day All, with the end of the mowing season approaching, I thought it may be a good time to offer some hints on how to store your petrol powered garden
equipment.

Personally, I complete a service prior to the autumn/winter hiatus, however, this is what you can do to reduce the chances of problems with your garden equipment next spring.

Firstly, empty the fuel, this is important as old/stale fuel causes the vast majority of problems.

Next, start and run the equipment until it runs out of fuel. This will prevent the fuel in your equipments carburetor evaporating creating varnish deposits which can
affect its effective operation next season.

Check the equipments air filter and spark plug. Clean or replace them as needed. These aren't absolutely necessary, just good practice, especially the air filter.

Ideally, you should change out the oil as it will be acidic from the equipment being used during the last season. Again, this is not absolutely necessary at this stage, providing it's changed out before you start using it next season.

Finally and importantly, give the equipment a good cleaning. Remove all the clippings top and bottom (especially the packed on clippings underneath, as this will hold moisture and cause corrosion, the biggest killer of mowers and decks this side of the black stump).

Don't forget to take the belt covers off self-propelled equipment as you'll be surprised at the amount of rubbish which gets trapped under them and cause damage to the drive system and belts. (Have a look at the attached photos).

Well, I hope this saves you some issues at the start of next season and don't forget, if you need help, contact me.

Another week of save people on the Tilligerry money. Got one of the local churches ride-on mower back cutting grass the day we arranged for me to visit.

And fitted new blades to another customers zero turn one morning allowing them to mow their entire block that same day.

By the "Port Mower Medic" going to them, they have saved about $100 in pick-up and return charges if they used a mower shop, or the loss of a day or two taking their machines to the repair shop/dealers.

I was able to get both machine back cutting grass that same day I arranged the visit. In contrast taking it to a shopcould see you without your machine for days, if not weeks.

Finally, my competitive hourly rate saved these customers around $50 to $90 on each job.
