In under a year, building works converted a disused under croft into a 1000+ sqm space for The Lake's College's Performing Arts and Sports Development.

New areas were created for:
- Music
- Music practice and tuition
- Recording
- Orchestra and Band
- Dance and Drama
- Strength and Conditioning and
- Staff

One of the student's favourite spaces is the Foyer - A place to be at home and to connect.

A great vision, The Lakes College. We love seeing this space well used and adaptable for your needs.

Interstitial spaces in learning environments are the "in-between" areas. When thoughtfully designed these foyers, corridors, nooks, alcoves, and transitional zones can serve as multi modal, active learning areas.

The Performing Arts Precinct The Lakes College occupies an existing under coft space. Over 1000sqm of "in -between" space now providing critical learning, community and performance spaces.

"Keep calm and carry on!"

It’s a phrase we see often, but this week, we’ve seen it lived.

What a week it’s been for St Luke's Bundaberg and the Bundaberg community, as the Burnett River flooded and the region faced challenging conditions. We’re grateful to be part of a school community that continues to look forward, even in the midst of it all.

To end this week, St Luke’s is sharing a fly‑through of the next stage of their masterplan - a new Primary Administration Building and Prep Centre. Thoughtfully positioned alongside the primary school entrance, this building will become a home to Prep and a welcoming entrance for the lower primary years.

We’ve loved collaborating closely with the Prep teachers and primary staff, shaping spaces for both indoor and outdoor learning, gathering, and connection. We can’t wait to see the little Preppies enjoying the fruits of everyone’s labour.

After completing the Upper Primary in 2024, this project marks Stage 1 of the Lower Primary, and like almost everything at this school, it’s carefully considered - from pedagogy to place‑making, right down to resilient building levels set in collaboration with RMA Engineers

This will be our fifth collaboration with St Luke’s, and something tells us the best is still to come.

BUILDING THE FUTURE I MASTER PLAN UPDATE.
St Luke’s is thrilled to share details of the next stage of our Master Plan: the Lower Primary Precinct Stage 1. Designed to inspire 21st-century learning, this purpose-built precinct reflects the School's commitment to providing vibrant, modern spaces where students can flourish.

This project is scheduled to commence construction in Term 3, 2026.

About 40% of independent Queensland schools are located in regional or remote areas.

Many of these schools are the centres of their communities. Their facilities serve the schools but go beyond this by providing critical infrastructure where community can meet. We love seeing how Discovery Christian College strengthens their community of Agnes Water and the many other towns between Bundaberg and Gladstone.

Hawley Constructions are on site at the moment and what a team! They make working 6-hours drive from Brisbane and 1.5-hours drive from an airport look easy.

Here you can see the finish line on the new Junior Primary (Stage 1) build is approaching. It’ll be great to see the students in their new classrooms soon.
