Lantern Heritage

Lantern Heritage Archaeological consultancy firm providing cultural heritage management services. No project too small, no challenge too big.

We at Lantern Heritage specialise in the identification, assessment, and investigation of archaeological sites in Australia. Ranging from single artefacts or assemblages to site complexes and landscapes, we have the skills to identify, record, document, analyse and interpret archaeological sites and materials. Lantern Heritage is committed to tailoring a package to meet you and your cultural herit

We pride ourselves in offering that same level of expertise and dedication to customer service offered in these projects, to smaller developers, without the prohibitive costs often associated with specialists. No matter where you are at in project planning or delivery, we can provide innovative and cost-effective approaches to navigating your obligations regarding heritage legislation.

Critics say that displaying mummified remains is dehumanising and disrupts the person’s journey to the afterlife.

And now, changing attitudes to the practice have led a Sydney museum to remove several mummified body parts from its display.

Last year Lantern undertook excavations at a site preparing for development. During the course of the excavation an enormous amount of bone was exposed. This helps to create the narrative of this site.
Bone can tell us so much but can also become a painstaking task, needing a steady hand and a patient personality.
Lucky we are all the above.
