For clarification the EASA PAD 24-044 for DG aircraft elevator drives does require replacement of the rod end on group 1 aircraft within 3 mths regardless of the inspection result. Group 2 aircraft only need replacement if the jammed condition is found.

Last time it was taking off at 21ft MSL to surf the MG at Burketown. Now it's time to try to glide over Mt Kosciusko from Khancoban. This was my first failed attempt. You can see at 2:10 that the glide back to safety hits my limits. Attempt two was better but that's another video.

Time to go our separate ways. Tim is taking the Whisper back from Narromine direct to Wedderburn while I head home to Temora. It's been a great trip and it was certainly nice to have flying company over the remote unlandable areas, ie most of it.

Saying goodbye to Burketown for this year. Thought we might get one more MG but scrappy high level and not worth the time to explore.

Blowing 20kts at 5am across the runway and only a vague wave cloud a long way out west. Back to sleep. Later we did a drive out to Leichhardt Falls and saw two real crocs. We did not swim!

Wednesday at 5am we were not terribly excited about the day as the forecasts did not show promise, but after a long run out to the East the smooth line presented in the distance and we all ended up having another great run. It's been a busy few days. I think we might have a few enforced days on the ground as the winds are due to pick up. Leichhardt Falls might be on the agenda.

So Tuesday after the great run on the MG cloud we had a self drive tour around Sweers followed by Spanish Mackerel, chips and salad. A great time was had despite the questionable map reading and the 6ish seat island ute. The take off was very cross wind so with the lowest power I elected to kick Paul out and let Tim take him back across the water. The landing was equally as fruity as the wind picked up.

Sorry for making you wait but we have had a busy couple of days. Tuesday we blasted out at first light again and had a fantastic ride down the wave. For once it was not a run out to sea. A few 20x edits show just how fast the cloud moves over the ground. The surface early on looked just like powder snow. At the end of the clip the wave was dissipating and we started up for a run out to sea for lunch at Sweers Island.

This gives you an idea of how the MG wave moves over the ground. The long run out to sea was determined by the take off at official first light of 6:02 am and full throttle of FFO was applied as the seconds ticked 00. The last leg was starting to break up a little and the engine was started at about 4000ft over the unlandable Savanah.
