We are going to explore the world of elegance. The word ‘elegance’ has two origins – the Middle French word elegantia, meaning ‘choiceness’ and the Latin word ēlegāns meaning ‘tasteful’. It’s also related to the root ēligere ‘to select’. Synonyms for the word ‘elegant’ are polished, courtly, chic, classic, dignified, exquisite, stately, stylist, aristocratic, cultured – all of this in an effortless, relaxed way.

So, what does it mean to be elegant? How do you add it into your life? Your wardrobe? Your home? Is it something you can cultivate? Do you aspire to be more elegant? Once you’ve got it, how do you keep it? Or, is it something that eludes you?

What is the Coffee & Conversations group?

It is a group of diverse, talented, and inspired women who have created an inviting and spacious community, called Coffee & Conversation. We meet, with or without coffee, for talks about who we are, what we want, and how to be in balance and harmony.

I popped over to the dark side and donned the Melbourne uniform of black but with pops of colour because that's how I wear black.....

When black isn't a staple in your wardrobe you tend not to look to purchase it and that can lead to a gap in your wardrobe.

That's exactly what happened to me I had a big gap in plain black pants with an edge.

Thankfully, released his Orime pants in a beautiful black twill and as they say "the rest is history" the gap has been filled.

This velvet jacket would have to be over 20 years old and still has a place in my heart and my wardrobe.

I love the sheen, the hand and the luxurious feeling of wearing velvet. I have a small collection curated over many years and always feel a bit "extra" when I wear a treasured velvet piece.....

I embraced that "extra" feeling to facilitate a zoom workshop on personal branding which got me thinking, are zoom meetings still playing a big part in your working day?

I'm also wearing starry top, sequin jeans, socks with sandals.....

I took yesterday's love affair with leopard, mustard and red and raised it with this yellow, cobalt, leopard and red combination.....

I love the pattern clash and the face peeping out the top of my boot. It's always the small details that bring me the most joy.....

My daily outfit inspiration comes from places, people, feelings, and things..... the genesis or inspiration for this "borrowed from the boys" ensemble was this stunning tie.

I'm super happy with the combination of different textures and patterns, including the buttons sewn onto the shirt collar to hide a pesky stain.....

Thinking out loud - because men rarely wear ties, should we lay claim to them? Thoughts?

I wore this conglomeration of patterns to sewing class where I finished my new plaid pants!

The Closet of Magical Happenings loves a great plaid pant. I'm so thrilled with this new pair I can't wait to road test them this week - I could even do a 3-way reel - can you guess what colour they are?
