Spanish wine....yes please! This beautiful family-owned winery is approximately 40 minutes from Barcelona, Spain, and definitely worth the drive. What did I learn???

Cuva, is the Spanish version of Champagne, produced through exactly the same methods (see comments for more info), and a fraction of the price! More learnings to follow 💗🍷🍾🥂

I often get lost for words when tasting unique wine. I'm down with the traditional "cherry, plum, dark chocolate, citrus, pear" etc. but I recently heard someone say "pencil shavings"??? And he was right! Use these guide to help you identify the scents on the nose during your next tasting!

Sometimes we get stuck for the language to utilise when describing the wine we're tasting. So many flavours, where do we begin?

The other week I said "tight finish" and my husband was like "WTF"? Forgive me, it was a few glasses in.
"Succinct finish" perhaps?

I ran a Winefulness event with a colleague and he described one of the flavours as "pencil shavings"......so anything really does go.

I thought I knew what people meant when they described the wine as 'earthy'....like you could taste the dirt practically, similar to when you eat a beetroot. This is a much better description ;)
"The chemical compound geosmin may be the culprit for the earthy quality in wine. A Greek word, it translates to “earth smell.” At low levels, it can impart a pleasant soil note."
