It's National Carers Week!

Carers provide an invaluable contribution to our community. Anyone can become a carer, often unexpectedly, and their dedication makes a world of difference.

Let’s show our appreciation and remind carers to look after their own wellbeing too.

A simple gesture, like checking in, offering a break and your support, and by encouraging them to look after themselves can go a long way towards making them feel acknowledged and supported.

If you or someone you know needs support, a great place to start is the Carer Gateway - https://www.carergateway.gov.au/

✨ Today is World Mental Health Day! Reach out, check in, and let’s lift each other up.

When we come together – through small, everyday moments of care, kindness, conversation and connection – we can help each other to truly thrive.

30/09/2026

Please note that we will be closed on Monday, 5 October, for the public holiday. 🎈

During this time, we will continue to provide essential services for clients with urgent needs.
If you need assistance or would like to reschedule a service or appointment, please give us a call.

Thank you for your understanding. 😊

This week is Dementia Action Week. This year’s theme, ‘It’s time to talk about dementia’, encourages open conversations about dementia.

For many people living with dementia, home is more than a place to live. It is where familiar rooms, routines, neighbours and memories can provide comfort and a sense of connection.

For support to talk about dementia, visit https://www.dementia.org.au/.

📸

Last week, Lyndall and Amanda proudly represented us at the Retirement Living & Senior Lifestyle Expo at Wallsend Diggers.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with local community members, answer questions about the evolving home aged care landscape, and share how BCC supports people to live independently, safely and confidently at home.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand for a chat. We enjoyed meeting so many locals and discussing the care and support options available in our region.

A special thank you to Senior Expos Australia for bringing together such a valuable community event, and to Wallsend Diggers & Mezz Bar for hosting the expo.

Tomorrow, Australians will take part in the 2026 Census.

The Census helps build a picture of our communities, including who lives here, how our needs are changing, and what support people may need in the future.

The information collected helps governments and community organisations plan important services such as aged care, disability support, healthcare, transport, housing and community programs.

For communities across our regions, every response helps create a clearer picture of local needs and helps ensure future services are designed around real people and real communities.

If you can, take a few minutes to complete your Census on 11 August.

Thanks for caring. 💛

Aged Care Employee Day is a national opportunity to give thanks to everyone working across aged care - recognising that every role matters, from frontline support and clinical care to transport, coordination, administration, leadership and the teams working behind the scenes.

Our employees bring skill, compassion and local knowledge to their roles every day.

🧠 This National Stroke Week, we're recognising the importance of stroke awareness and recovery.

While acting F.A.S.T. during a stroke can save a life, ongoing support can play an important role in helping people regain confidence and independence after returning home. The Support at Home Restorative Care Pathway may provide eligible older people with access to allied health, nursing and practical supports designed around their personal goals.

Recovery is about more than health. It's about maintaining connections, independence and the things that make life meaningful. https://www.bccare.org.au/contact-us/

Helping people live their best lives with care at home is at the heart of everything we do. 💚
