2021 Syrahmi Home Block Release – it’s coming!

“The 2021 Shiraz Home Block is a unique Heathcote expression with a strong mineral-inflected aromatic core lifted by wood smoke, white pepper and bouquet garni. Compact, confident and focused, it is richly tannic yet also energetic, with a slick texture. The wine is incredibly tightly wound, harmonious and only just peeking out from under its shell. I like this considerably more than the 2019 vintage, as it offers greater breadth of flavour and underlying power with an immaculate finish.”

“The 2021 Shiraz Once in a Lifetime is highly nuanced in a modern-style Heathcote frame, with dark earth, red cherry and licorice aromas that build in the glass. Densely packed yet also fresh and light on its fee thanks to fresh acidity, while ceramic aging adds a chalky texture. Willowy in shape, young and vibrant, kept tight thanks to meaty tannins driving a long, singular finish. The tannins in particular are thrilling and will see this wine soar in future years.”

Vinous, Antonio Galloni’s US-based wine publication, has included three Syrahmi wines in Angus Hughson’s Top Ten Shiraz in ‘Australian Syrah: The Quest for Refinement’.

The 2021 Once in a Lifetime Shiraz at 95 points (available online now).
The 2019 La La (now sold-out), also at 95 points.
And the soon-to-be-released 2021 Syrahmi Home Block High Density Shiraz at an incredible 98 points – the top scoring wine of the tasting!

These bunches are taking the fall, so to speak, to ensure the utmost quality for our Syrahmi Home Block High Density Shiraz.
 
Over the past two days we’ve been in the vineyard sacrificing any damaged fruit or split berries after the heavy rain this week.
 
It’s never easy dropping fruit to the ground, but it’s all part of the process. In the end, the result should speak for itself. 🍷

✨These pics were taken in early Feb. There’s something so satisfying about lifting wires, shoot thinning, and tucking vines! The end result! 🍇 The neat, narrow rows allow the mini Massey to get down them with a little less stress. 🚜 Although this season has been truly exceptional, no disease pressure at all, which means less work for us, we haven’t had to use the tractor to spray once! 🙌 Touch wood it stays that way but we could definitely use some rain. 🌧️
