I recently had the pleasure of working with Aischa from Forever Joy Photography to review her systems & processes.

Aischa specifically wanted to define and streamline the client journeys for both her family photography and wedding photography clients to ensure she was delivering an exceptional, highly personalised experience while reducing the level of hands on admin required for each booking.

Together, we took a deep dive into Aischa’s existing client journeys and their associated workflows, mapping out every touchpoint in detail and identifying where her family and wedding clients journeys diverge. We also explored how she could better leverage her existing CRM to simplify her processes, automate key steps, and create an internally streamlined flow that reflected as a seamless experience for each client.

As Aischa was keen to implement the changes herself, I provided a detailed action plan outlining key findings and recommendations along with two custom client journey flowcharts - because sometimes, a good visual makes all the difference!

It’s always a privilege to be invited behind-the-scenes of a business and to help bring more ease and efficiency to how things run. Earlier this week, the amazing Sandra asked a question that really got me thinking. “What’s the one thing you wish you knew when starting your business?”

Honestly, there are so many things I wish I’d known when I was starting out. Running a business is an enormous personal growth journey and there’s something new to learn every single day.

But if I had to pick just one lesson? That imperfect action beats perfection (which we know is actually unattainable and really translates to perfect inaction) every single time.

Far too often, I have let perfection paralysis hold me back. I’ve sat on new ideas instead of sharing them. I’ve spent silly amounts of time and energy overthinking new offers. I’ve drafted and re-drafted Instagram posts way too many times - I mean, seriously!?

Reflecting on this lesson has been such a timely reminder that sometimes you just have to do the thing.

So here’s to being an action-taker, commited to moving forward and shaking off the unrealistic, unnecessary burden of perfection.

The countdown to Christmas is officially on, and just like that, it’s time for me to shut the laptop, log out of Instagram, and enjoy the festivities with family and friends.

This year has been quite the rollercoaster, with some wonderful highs and some pretty devastating lows, so I am feeling very ready for a break to rest, reset, and be present with my loved ones.

I’ll be back in the office in early January and am so excited about what 2025 will bring!

Thank you for all of your support in 2024 - it has meant so much!

Like anything new, bringing a VA into your business can feel daunting. So, where should you begin in preparing to work with a VA? While the specifics may vary depending on exactly what you’re needing help with, these five steps will help to set you up for a successful collaboration.

1. Audit your regular tasks to determine what truly requires your personal attention versus what can be handed over, freeing up your valuable time.

2. Review the systems and processes you already have in place, and consider how these could be used to enhance workflows and support efficient communication with your VA.

3. Think about how you can best share your knowledge or specific briefing instructions with your VA. Perhaps you need to track down (or develop!) your SOPs, or record some Loom videos that the VA can refer back to as needed.

4. Be upfront in setting clear expectations and facilitating open, honest communication. Your VA will be wanting to do the same!

5. Be open-minded. Welcome somebody new into the business that you have put so much time, passion and effort into growing is huge! Ultimately, your VA is there to help ensure that you succeed and will likely have some fresh ideas and strategies to contribute along the way.

I am so grateful for every person who has been part of my journey over the past 12 months.

To my incredible clients, thank you for trusting me with your businesses. It’s been a delight to get to know you, and an absolute privilege to support you.

To my amazing network of industry colleagues thank you for sharing so generously and always cheering me on.

This idea is something I have been reflecting an a lot lately. I believe the original idiom is actually ‘more haste, less speed’, but it sticks in my mind much better the other way around - ‘less haste, more speed. An instruction that reminds me of the outcome I am aiming to achieve - less rushing, less hustle, more focus, more efficiency, and perhaps most importantly, more calm.
