eLearning modules can play a really useful role in bringing some structure and consistency to how learning happens across a team.

We tend to think of them less as “courses” and more as a way to capture and share how things are actually done in your organisation.

When they’re designed well, they reflect your context, your processes, your expectations, and the situations your people deal with day to day.

That might include things like short videos, real examples, walkthroughs of systems, or simple scenarios that mirror real work.

They can also be aligned to what matters for your business, for example:

• Building confidence in sales or client conversations
• Supporting consistent customer service
• Reducing errors in systems and processes
• Reinforcing compliance requirements
• Helping new starters get up to speed

With it, there’s a more consistent base to build from. Something people can return to, and something that connects with other learning happening on the job.

Do you have a learning library for your employees (digital or paper-based), if so, it’s probably worth taking a closer look at it.

Courses get added. Documents get saved. Versions get updated… and then updated again. Priorities shift… and before you know it, parts of it aren’t being used, contain outdated references, or no longer align with how your people actually work. It happens gradually, but the impact adds up.

When someone opens a module, a folder, or even a printed guide that’s outdated or doesn’t quite hit the mark, it chips away at trust. They’re less likely to rely on it next time or engage in training. Over time, it can also make your L&D function look less credible than it really is.

And more than that, it sends a subtle message about how much learning is valued, and how much you’re investing in your people.

We see this a lot.

A simple review can make a big difference. What’s still useful? What needs a refresh? What can be retired altogether?

It doesn’t have to be a big overhaul. Just bringing things back into alignment with how your people actually learn and work now. That’s something we support as part of our Learning & Development work. Helping teams make their learning libraries clearer, more relevant, and actually used.

A learning library is just one part of your learning ecosystem but it is a critical one.

At its core, your learning library is where your content lives: Courses, Guides, Resources, Templates, Knowledge assets. It’s the “go-to” place for learning. But on its own, it’s not enough.

Without that connection, even the best content can sit unused. And if you don’t have a clear, accessible learning library at all - how are your employees finding what they need? How are you supporting consistency, growth, and professional development across your team?

It’s often one of the simplest ways to show that learning and your people genuinely matter.

𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀: “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴?”

That’s where a learning ecosystem audit can make a real difference.

It’s not about starting from scratch. It’s about stepping back and taking a proper look at what you already have but from a few different perspectives.

That might include:

✔ What’s working well and what’s not really being used.
✔ Where there are gaps, duplication, or outdated content.
✔ How easy it is for people to find and access learning.
✔ Feedback from your team. We use surveys and/ or conversations with learners, leaders, and subject matter experts.
✔ Looking at your data and KPIs. We look beyond just completions, but what’s actually making a difference.
✔ How well everything connects across systems, content, and processes.

From there, it becomes much easier to see where small, practical changes can make a real impact.

Most organisations already have learning in place but not always a connected learning ecosystem.

A learning ecosystem goes beyond individual courses or resources. It’s the network of people, content, technology, and processes that work together to support continuous learning as part of everyday work.

A strong learning ecosystem isn’t just about what you create. It is how everything connects:

• 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 – how learning is organised, accessed, and experienced
• 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 – how learning is built and aligned to real work outcomes
• 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 – the platforms, systems, and external resources that enable access
• 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 – leaders, SMEs, and teams who engage with and support learning
• 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 – how learning is reviewed, updated, and continuously improved
• 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 – whether learning is genuinely valued and embedded in the workplace

When the pieces aren’t working together, you start to see gaps show up and it starts to feel all over the place. Content goes out of date, engagement drops off and learning becomes something people put off rather than use. But when it is connected, you can see the difference. People feel more confident, learning actually gets used, and it starts to feel relevant to their day-to-day work.

The flow on effect results in stronger engagement, better performance, and improved retention.

𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆?

Understanding the difference between pedagogy and andragogy can make a real difference to how learning is designed. And yet, we still come across plenty of people who haven’t heard the term andragogy at all. In simple terms:

𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗴𝘆 = teaching children
• structured
• instructor-led
• content-focused

𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗴𝘆 = supporting adult learning
• experience-based
• autonomy and independence
• focused on real-world application

If you’re designing learning for adults (whether it’s onboarding, professional development, microlearning or compliance) this shift matters. It’s not the whole picture, but it’s a really useful place to start.

Adults learn best when it solves a real problem, connects to their role and respects what they already know. If your training feels like a classroom… you’re probably missing the mark.
