The focus is on "internal profitability" a concept centred around profitability not being a function of working longer hours, or growing more produce. It's about looking more closely at your business efficiencies, and realising you can make as much money, if not more, simply by running a smarter operation. One of the things I admire most in business is seeing teams handle pressure well together.

Not perfectly.
But calmly.
Practically.
Collectively.

People stepping up.
Communicating properly.
Supporting each other.
Making sensible decisions without panic.

Those moments usually don’t happen by accident.

They’re often the result of years spent building:
> trust
> clear expectations
> good leadership
> and strong operational habits

I think good businesses sometimes underestimate how important that is.

Because when pressure arrives, culture becomes very visible very quickly.
The strongest businesses I see are rarely just operationally strong.
They’re strong because people know how to work well together when things become difficult.

That’s something worth recognising and celebrating more often in agriculture and business generally.

Last week, Gordon Stone (Business Strategist and ABDI Founder/Director) was in Dubbo as part of a panel at the Livestock Advisor Updates, joining a room full of sharp minds from across the industry.

The discussions covered everything from AI in agriculture to market trends and the evolving role of advisors.

One standout takeaway from Gordon’s perspective?
👉 While tools and technology are valuable, clarity, certainty, and confidence still come from trusted relationships.
