Tilma Group helps regional and rural communities work smarter in growing their local visitor economy. Big-picture thinkers with over 15 years’ experience across the tourism industry, Tilma Group connects the dots holistically in strategic planning that focuses on getting the implementation right in
• product and experience development
• industry capacity building
• brand and marketing
• visitor servicing
• events

Tilma Group brings stakeholders together and equips them with the know-how and tools to create a sustainable local tourism industry that ensures the future growth of the community. Tilma Group has grown since humble beginnings in 2008 to become one of Australia’s most respected regional tourism and event agencies. Led by managing director, Linda Tillman, the consultancy services clients across regional and remote Australia from its base in Toowoomba in southeast Queensland. Team Tilma is committed to building the strength and sustainability of regional and rural communities. If there was a gold sticker for the ‘person most passionate about tourism in regional and rural Australia’, Linda Tillman should get one. Linda has worked in tourism, events and marketing for 15 years, from studying a Business (Tourism) degree in Lismore, to travelling around Australia for three years working in tourism, becoming CEO of Riverina Regional Tourism, launching her own agency, and even supporting the redevelopment of the national tourism awards in Vanuatu. Linda is a regular presenter at tourism and event conferences and was on the board of Australian Regional Tourism from 2012-2019. There is no doubt that Linda’s experience working in the local government and private sectors has given her insight, knowledge and understanding of the tourism industry on a local, state and national level. In addition to her experience, Linda’s sixth sense is her ability to spot opportunities and guide organisations, tourism operators and events on how to leverage those opportunities for the good of the whole community. Tilma Group is proud to work with everyone from ‘two-man towns’ to bustling regional centres to drive the exciting growth of the tourism industry off the beaten path - and deliver exceptional results.

“[Tilma Group] have gone above and beyond expectations. They have provided a far more detailed and region-wide report than what was in the scope, and in doing so have painted a very ambitious and exciting vision for visitor servicing across [our region]. This document will provide a great lobbying platform to expand and increase our visitor servicing across the region and service the customer in the best way possible.”
- Stephen Schwer, Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Central Australia

Tilma Group’s rEVENTS Academy supports the revitalisation and viability of regional and rural festivals and events. A 10-module course to build the skills of event committees, rEVENTS Academy is the affordable way to use the expertise of Tilma Group with our templates, toolkits and webinars.

“A measure of success for me is that at our recent AGM, we were successful in filling three executive positions and twelve sub-management positions out of fifteen. It clearly shows the confidence people now have in an association that is being run a professional level, with procedures, KPIs, operation manual and flow charts to assist. Without this level of professionalism, I believe we would still be floundering.”
- Kim Boyter, Goomeri Pumpkin Festival. MISSION
Tilma Group provides pragmatic and tailored strategic planning and capacity building for tourism, destination marketing, and events, delivering innovative ideas with clear objectives and measurable results. More than just strategic planning, we support clients in activation, and celebrating successful outcomes! TILMA VALUES

We’re not sure if it’s the fresh country air, the morning sun rising over sunflower fields or the hearty country brekkies, but our team of go-getters jump out of bed each day ready to take on big challenges and put in 100% every step of the way! WE ARE INSPIRED
Team Tilma lives and breathes regional tourism, marketing and events. We attend festivals to talk to the volunteers and go on holidays to get some work done! There’s no doubt about it, we’re passionate and we’re proud of it. WE ARE THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF CRAZY
As the quote goes, ‘Here’s to the crazy ones, the rebels, the misfits, the square pegs in the round holes.’ At Tilma Group, we have just the right balance of common sense to curiosity, focus to free-thinking, and intuition to imagination. WE KNOW OUR STUFF
Tilma Group is an experienced team of highly-skilled over-achievers who are committed to not just deliver on your goals, but blow them completely out of the local watering hole.

At Tilma, our favourite work isn't just strategy creation, it’s the activation - actually getting work done and seeing real impact in regional communities!

Last week Linda was back in the City of Karratha, in WA’s beautiful Pilbara, supporting the activation of the Tourism Strategy Tilma developed with the City last year.

The absolute highlight was celebrating a major milestone: our friend from the tourism strategy's development, Bree Johnson has been promoted from Visitor Services Supervisor to the city's brand-new Tourism Coordinator!

Hiring a tourism coordinator was the very first action item to be rolled out from the strategy Tilma co-created with the City's City Growth team.

And, it marks the first time the City of Karratha has ever had a dedicated Tourism Coordinator. Congratulations, Bree! 🎉

During the visit, Linda
- worked with the City's City Growth team to prioritise achievable actions for the first two years of implementation
- workshopped with the team to create a new tourism grants program, offering advice around how the fund will align to the strategy and its priorities
- presented at a business breakfast
- delivered a tourism opportunities workshop for Aboriginal businesses

What a fantastic, lively week in the City of Karratha!

We love running into our past clients! This is Rachael from Diamondvale Estate, Stanthorpe luxury country cottages (a past mentee of ours), Vintage Tours (tours in a vintage car around Stanthorpe), and Granite Belt Wine Country LTO.
Rachael surprised and delighted us with a free gift of Granite Belt Wine Country hats, totes and water bottles! She knows how to make memories!

A giant thank you 🥳 to the organisers of Birdsville's Big Red Bash and Broken Hill's Mundi Mundi Bash!

Outback Music Festival Group (OMFG for short 😆) is supporting Tilma Group's fundraising for FRRR's Prepare and Recover grant program which supports the resilience of rural communities to the impacts of climate change.

These music festivals on their own are absolutely HUGE fundraisers for rural Australia, supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia as well as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

And as our past awards clients, we can attest the organisers are absolutely top human beings!

If you would like to join OMFG and Tilma in this support for rural communities, this link donates directly to FRRR (the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal): https://shoutforgood.com/fundraisers/tilmagroup

Linda is back in Karratha WA this week, working with the City of Karratha and the Karratha and District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KDCCI).

A little while ago, our team co-created a new Tourism Strategy with the City's City Growth team.

And as anyone who works with us knows, we don't believe in letting great strategies just sit on a shelf!

There is nothing more rewarding than jumping back in to help our strategy clients bring their vision to life and empower the local industry.

While she's in the region, Linda will be delivering a workshop on unlocking tourism opportunities for Indigenous businesses.

Find all the details and grab a spot here:

All PIBNG Members are invited to join us at a workshop to explore Aboriginal cultural tourism development opportunities in Karratha. Designed for people in the early stages of considering a tourism venture, this practical session will help participants better understand visitor demand, identify mark...

The key takeaway from last week’s Global Sustainable Tourism Summit for so many was: “Make sustainability the default, and make unsustainable choices more of an effort.”

Here’s how destination managers can make sustainability the easy option for operators.
