Every article of work an artist creates carries intention — the materials, colours and textures, the hours of work in the studio that bring a multidimensional idea into form.

When those pieces leave the studio and move into an exhibition space, or into a collector’s home or workplace, the frame becomes part of the work’s future — shaping how it will be seen and experienced in the years ahead.

Conservation framing supports that future. It safeguards the integrity of your materials, maintains colour and surface stability, and presents the work in a way that aligns with professional practice. It also gives future custodians confidence that the piece they’re acquiring has been prepared with considered, archival care.

Thoughtful, museum‑standard framing enhances the encounter with your work, supports its longevity, and helps maximise its value — both now and in the years ahead.

In our latest article, we share how conservation methods support artists in presenting their work with intention, protecting it for the long term, and ensuring its future custodians can enjoy each piece for generations.

We have devoted this past week to supporting this Saturday's LifeFlight Toowoomba Gala with our friends Brian and Kerry Carroll of Carroll Truck Sales Queensland. Brian and Kerry have privately sourced and generously gifted to LifeFlight signed horse racing items by none other than James McDonald – J-MAC, the world’s best jockey. It is a privilege to prepare displays of such distinction, given so wholeheartedly to an important community cause.

The set includes J‑MAC's own personally signed riding crop and signed official race photograph from Romantic Warrior’s 2022 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup victory — a history‑making performance in which the duo delivered a rare 4½‑length win, set a 2,000m speed record that still stands, and claimed what would become the first of four consecutive Hong Kong Cup wins — the most by any horse in the race’s history!

The custom framing process for objects is complex, requiring extensive design and planning for construction, with multiple windows of varying depths to house the individual objects. Conservation standard framing ensures that all objects are mounted reversibly, with their full integrity intact. We have deployed hidden stitches, wires, mounts and hinges to achieve this conservation standard, surrounding the objects with museum standard fabric matting and TruVue full-UV filtering, zero-reflection Museum Glass. A professionally written and etched silver plaque tells the compelling story of J-MAC's legend and why these signed pieces represent such a significant moment in history

We suspect there will be strong backing from our equine community and generous supporters across the region when the bidding hits the straight 🏇

If you missed our earlier short story, here is another small glimpse into the luscious conservation framing design and fine workmanship enshrining a bejewelled illustration that has been in the ARTSHOP studio this past week.

It is a companion to a bespoke, one‑of‑a‑kind piece that is being created by our incredibly talented friends , with every element crafted in philanthropic support of a vital organisation that serves our community.

While the full creation remains under wraps until the imminent 2026 Toowoomba Gala, a quiet hint of its radiance is already beginning to emerge. We know these pieces will be an exceptional treasure — and indeed heirlooms — for their future and very fortunate custodian.

Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with the jewellery, illustration and frame designers after the event, revealing the meticulous artisanal expertise that goes into bringing these gorgeous pieces to life.

The Fairholme Open Art Prize - Facets is an exhibition our ARTSHOP family looks forward to every May with great anticipation.

Originating as a centenary celebration in 2017, it has since evolved into a richly curated annual showcase of up to 200 works from an extraordinary breadth of local, regional, national and international artists.

As major sponsor — together with our fellow opening night and prize sponsors — it’s a true privilege to support an exhibition that celebrates art, education and community, and one that reflects the many facets of creativity that connect us to each other, to place, and to the stories we share.

We express our deep gratitude to the Fairholme community, the 2026 exhibition curator Dr Tiffany Shafran, event organisers, volunteers, judges, and, of course, the artists whose collective effort brings FACETS to life and sustains it year after year.

If you’re preparing an exhibiting piece — or supporting an exhibiting artist with a new acquisition — and want to ensure it is beautifully presented and protected for years to come, you can explore our conservation‑grade framing approach via the links in our bio.

We look forward to seeing everyone there on opening night!

📅 Opening Night + Prize Announcements: 8 May 2026
📅 Exhibition: 9–10 May 2026 at Fairholme College

Every artwork or object that comes into ARTSHOP arrives with a story — a memory, a milestone, a piece of family history or a connection to place.

A souvenir print or artwork collected on a special holiday.

A grandmother’s painting.

A blueprint from a business’s early days.

A photograph that holds a family’s history.

An Indigenous artwork carrying cultural knowledge and connection to Country.

Conservation framing exists to honour those stories — and, importantly, to protect the artworks and artefacts that hold meaning for you without introducing materials or methods that could cause irreversible harm over time.

It is the careful work of protecting those stories for the years ahead.

In this new article just published on our website, we share what conservation framing is, why it matters, and how museum-standard materials and methods will safeguard the meaningful pieces you treasure most.
